Anyway, can we please try to stay on topic, people? - Now, back to Michael McIntyre being a c**t...

Eurgh, have you no standards man?

Let's face it. It's the only way Michael McIntyre is going to get on BGT.

If he had to go through the heats he wouldn't make it past the first set of barriers !

I'm sure Michael will be getting paid quite handsomely for his appearance on the show, it's easy money too. He'd be a fool not to take it.

I just hope that unlike his 'Comedy Roadshow', he remembers that it's not a vehicle for him, and actually gives those on stage a chance to perform without hogging the limelight himself.

It's all deeply ironic really, first Piers Morgan, now Michael "if I point things out, it's hilarious. I'm also posh!" McIntyre...

Well as I wouldn't watch BGT if my favourite comedians were on it (e.g. David Mitchell) I don't really care about some comedian I don't much like being on it. I would be sad if David Mitchell was on BGT though.

I think it would just turn into the worlds greatest piss take though...

There you go, one week just replace the usual judges with David Mitchell, Charlie Brooker and... Hell, Alan Sugar. Sweariest show... ever.

I feel a bit sorry for Michael McIntyre; not for his bank balance of course, but for the fact that he isn't overtly offensive. Ok, he's been forced upon us quite a lot and is seen as what comedy should be but I don't find him terrible at all, infact his first DVD had me crying with laughter. The second one wasn't as good admittedly but I don't understand the hatred. Is it because he can be enjoyed by all the family?

He's seen as anti-comedy by the elite and the 'coinesseurs' and it's hard to know why. When Armando Ianucci had a pop at him at the Comedy Awards, the look on McIntyre's face seemed to say "What exactly have I done that's so offensive?" Have to say it's a fair point. If he was thinking that of course, he was probably thinking "what a c**t."

Well, it WAS apparently very much because he could be enjoyed by all the family but, as a sop to those who hate him for that, his 'Hello Wembley' DVD contains a reference to getting his birthday blow-job.

But they still hate him - perhaps because his humour is based upon the same everyday observations that British comedians have been making since comedy began - but not nearly so cleverly?

Essentially, they're jealous because he's so much more successful at his job than they are at theirs.

The reason most comedians hate Micheal Mcintyre is because he's funnier than them in my opinion. Simply-put, he makes more people laugh than them, hence he's funnier. A lot of comedians and people in comedy are quite insecure, and when someone like Mcintyre comes along who has broad appeal and is adored by more-or-less everyone, they feel incredibly jealous and threatened.

All I see here is a talented, naturally-funny guy in broad, mainstream humour who's making the most of his fame by taking on a high-profile, well-paid job as a BGT judge. Why not? He doesn't have a cool image to lose - I mean if it was Stewart Lee taking the job I'd raise an eyebrow, but McIntyre's perfect for a gig like this. I see nowt wrong with it. A few years ago he was 50 grand in debt and on the point of being evicted for not being able to pay the rent. He's just raking it in while he can.

We'd all do the same in his position.

And in fairness he's never ever been Rob Rouse.

Something Rob Rouse insists on being on a daily basis despite the clear degree of stress it causes.

In Armando Iannucci's defence, I don't think he himself was trying to take a pop at Michael McIntyre, his comments were merely made as a reflection on the general atmosphere towards MM which seemed to be pervading the room.

*opens Broadcast to read that Rob Rouse has been commissioned for his own prime-time BBC topical comedy show* :(
