Soap Double Acts

Much was always made of Jack & Vera in Corronation Street, and latterly Norris & whoever.

I can't ever see any decent humour in Eastenders, not that I watch it these days.

But my favourites are Viv & Bob in Emmerdale.

I love her - she's just so over the top the way she dresses, her need to know everything that goes on and her sheer hypocrisy.

And Bob - his surname is Hope - who is forever trying to please his wife.

Jack & Vera - very good.

Stan and Hilda, also from Corrie.

Actually, they're mainly from Corrie aren't they? Even Bet Lynch and Alec Gilroy. Though back in the early 'Enders days, Den and Angie had some double act fun, and so did Andy and Debs. Apart from that...Corrie wins?

Dot and Jim were funny for a while, Billy and Honey are supposed to be, but aren't, Garry and Minty can be funny, Roxy and Ronnie are mildy amusing.

And so ends my Eastenders run on sentence.

I am excited about Bianca and Rickaaaay coming back!

No-one ever seems to appreciate the humour in Emmerdale.

Is it because it's on at 7 o'clock that not many people watch it? It is ten times better than Eastenders.

No, it's because it's on at 7 o'clock AND on ITV.

Lee and Bombhead use to be pretty funny in Hollyoaks. And Max and OB before they became more serious characters (and by that I mean 'serious' in Soap terms...and by that I mean 'serious in Soap terms' by Hollyoaks terms).

Oh and the McQueens in Hollyoaks, they've provided more laughs than most new British comedy. No lie.

The best!

I often think there would be mileage in a sitcom spin-off where Max, OB and little Tom (the UK's only decent child actor) move away to start a new business.

Hilarity would insue with a Joey and Chandler style relationship.

Double dating, mistaken for a gay couple - just think!

I just like the humour between the Dingles in Emmerdale, it's the only soap I can watch.

I totally agree.

And there's always another Dingle just around the corner.

I reckon Belle is a great little actress.

Yeah!!!
And I LOVE little Tom.

Craig Dean and John Paul were my favourite soap double act.
*sigh*
But, like, not necessarily from a comedy angle.

The best double act with ANY current TV soap is your hand and the off switch! ;)

Don't know about double acts, but I used to love Harry Cross from Brookside. Classic grumposity.

I loved Karen & Steve from Coronation Street.
Karen was a right twisted bitch. I admired her greatly for that.

Your role model.

I don't watch Emmerdale, but Lee who I mentioned earlier from Hollyoaks is in Emmerdale now I believe, well he joined it a couple of years ago actually. I don't know if he's still a comedy style character in Emmerdale though.
