British Comedy Guide

Jesting About, Newcastle

I was wondering if anyone else on the BCG was attending this event in Newcastle tomorrow?

It is a special student gathering (under and post-grad) about developing comedy in the North-East. Amongst the people there will be Bob Mortimer, Mario Dubois (Project Lead), Agnes Wilkie (Creative Industry Director, Northern Film & Media), Jon Mountague (Executive Producer, BBC Comedy North), Martin Trickey (Multiplatform Executive, BBC Comedy), Alfie Joey (BBC Radio Newcastle and stand up comedian).

I'd have gone but I'm not and never have been a student. Hopefully the Jesting About scheme will be including the more poorly-educated North Eastern comedy writers in the future Teary

By eck it's a bin' a tough time eh Lee?

Toiling down t' gag mine for 36 hours a day for tuppence.

Wasn't half your village killed in the great nob gag mine collapse in 1884

Ooh, Bob Mortimer!

Wish I was going.

I think you might be confusing Tyneside with Yorkshire.

Besides my family were descended from navvies. They built the railway to the great nob gag mine.

Aye lad, 'twere hard labour, workin' dahn t' gagpit. We used to have a canary in't cage that'd warn us of pockets of stale humour. We'd avoid those areas like t' plague, but one miner as I recall would plunder those depths regardless of the dangers. Brave lad he were - Lenny Henry I think he were called.

Looks like I'm going to this now - just got a late invite to the evening event. Should be interesting.

Want go :(

Got back from the event. For those who cannot make it, more information will be on the BBC Comedy website tomorrow.

Was a good night. Loving Bob Mortimer's roadmap to comedy success written on a Bag For Life :D

Bastards.

:O Actually Nat I thought you were there - there was a girl outside just finishing a fag who looked exactly like you and I went over all friendly like, hand outstretched and said "Nat Wicks!?" And she said "No!" but shook my hand anyway then bummed another fag off me. Slightly embarrassing. :$

Lee I've met Nat and she's not 6 foot, hasn't got a beard and doesn't have a cock like a monkeys arm reaching out from her skirt to pick up a tennis ball.

Well I don't fancy her anymore then.

Hah Nat I stole Lee from you.

And thanks to the Trainline my return cost less than 60 squids.

I think this could be an advert.
