The British Comedy Awards: Dear ITV Page 2

There are always plenty of mediocre programs on TV of all genres now. They have 24 hours to fill.

There was a time when there was no telly during the day at all until about 4:00pm except "Watch with Mother" (a 15 minute kiddy show) and the telly went off at midnight, oh and just two channels: BBC and ITV.

ITV had commercial breaks and was a bit less 'stuffy' than 'Auntie'. I enjoyed TV better then but I can't be sure why as they were different times and I was a lot older then! And more 'lardy'.

Just because people have their tellys on and are watching it does not make it great TV. A lot of couch lards will watch any old shite! Telly doesn't actually have to be good anymore to sell advertising as getting into peoples houses via the telly and PC is the way to sell now above all else! So the ads are coming thick and fast and the lards sit and gawp!!!

So why bother making good telly?

<yes of course there is some good telly, but it's few and far between on some nights viewing>

well said Aaron . I urge all of you to boycott ITV. They are hypocrites. First it's children television , then the reginal news. I bet if ITV were at least a little bit good at thier comedy output , and thought they would do better than channel 4 and BBC they would have no problem in showing it. Boycott ITV , anyone else agree

Although I'm sorry it's not on, if it is, it'll cut across the last two episodes of Heroes, so I'd probably have watched them anyway.

None of the awards shows of any genre have ever been of interest to me as I'd rather be watching a programme and not 'a programme about programmes' that some arbitrary voting system has decided have won prizes!

But hey ho, whatever floats 'lards' boats! They have control of the couch!

Aaron, you've spelt separate incorrectly.

Do I get a lollipop?

:D

There is some good tv. Doc Martin is good, it's not fantastic but it is good and look how the audience have lapped it up. Thats why you should make good tv. That and integrity.

I agree that they should make good TV.

I was being ironic (I think)! Laughing out loud

Integrity would be good, but only the truly gifted tend to have it and there are very few of them about in any era.

He'll try every trick in the book to prove that he didn't! You mark my words!

True. I am seriously considering getting rid of my tv for good.

I might actually get some writing done then!

See Frankie, this is the difference between you and me. I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong. :)

Where's my lollipop?

It's probably been suggested before but why can't anyone else pick it up?

Channel 4 or Five maybe?

Have ITV bought the rights?

ITV paid the producers an extra £70,000 (I think it was) to ensure that the contract was stuck to as-is and that no one else could get the show.

Apparently.

MB: If you come to the meetup, you can have one then. (Oo er.)
