Ooh dear, Australians getting hatricks on day one wasn't in England's game plan was it. I've had a feeling that England have been over confident going into this. The fact is all that preparation doesn't make up for a lack of class in batting. Collingwood is very average technically and vulnerable early on, Cook is always open to the edge to slip like Gower was in his later years, Strauss is hit and miss these days and Pietersen still isn't back to his best. That leaves Trott and Bell as world class batters in form, it is not enough in Australia.

Oh dear.

Is Trott in form Alfred? He together with KP are the only ones not to hit a century in the warm up games.

Well his form this year in tests has been very good, the best of all our bats by a distance. I still back him to deliver, and Bell, but I don't back Collingwood or Cook at all, two very weak links that will be exploited.

That is a poor start to the Ashes for England, all we need is Australia to find their old batting form and we have lost the opener! 260! Rubbish.

Last 6 wickets for 63! The bad old days are back.
