He's like the annoying bitch you meet in the kitchen at work every morning. You've not slept, you burnt your shirt with the iron, there was no milk for breakfast, the exhaust fell off your car and you want to kill someone. She's always so fecking chirpy. Sorry, sidetracked.

Ooooh, I HATE meeting people like that first thing in the morning. Angry

Sorry. Carry on.

Nothing specific like that. In fact, I'm not actually sure at all. I just ... Like it. *shrug*

I guess Rick's bitchiness appeals to me. Although I have no idea why. Whistling nnocently

His bitching gets on my nerves, it's like they made a one line synopsis of the character - "he's pissed off at everything" and then Jack Dee or whoever writes this crap put together a show, I hate to admit I watched the first series, it's just kind of boring... nothing makes me laugh and I see the end of the episode coming about 4 minutes in.

ahh, that’s better Pleased

Ralph Innerson has a great voice, though - very manly and rich.

Is he doing the voice over for Gaviscon ads?

He's doing the voice for something, so sounds plausible.

I thought the last one (episode 2) was one of the best from both series. So much going on that I can relate too.

I thought it was quite a new twist to the dinner party setup to have the wrong guy there.

Also the cleaner, who is fantastically played by an English actress, is not lazily written. I know a lot of Eastern European people who do exactly the same. Its funny and its PC gone mad to say its wrong.

This is a comedy that is supposed to mirror the quirkiness of life. We have eastern European cleaners in this country. The differences can be amusing. So what's wrong with representing this? Most of the time its Rick that looks the idiot in these exchanges anyway.

Well said!

Just got round to watching last week's episode about the dinner party. I think this show is excellent and soooo much better than most of the recent home grown comedies.

OK I know there are people who cite its influences as Curb but I can't comment as I've never seen Curb (I know a terrible admission for a comedy fan)I never caught onto it at the start so it's passed me by. I must get down to catching it so as i can enjoy what too seems to be an excellent show by all accounts

im looking forward to this tonight, 'magda' is superb and the daughter and her boyfriend so true to life.

As much as I'm enjoying this show, and last nights was excellent, I'd like to see them subvert the formula slightly and have Rick Spleen come out on top for once.

Wow, very good episode last night, laughed quite a bit. Had me really thinking that Rick was a complete bastard at the beginning (and somewhat embarrassingly so at times), but by the end I wanted him to be the 'winner'. And Raquel Cassidy is gorgeous.

Does she play Mel? If so, I don't think she's gorgeous, but she's outrageously sexy. When she was tipsy last week, I wanted to jump into the TV. I think my wife is fed up with me mentioning it every time she's on screen. As if Jack Dee could pull her, the ugly git.

Great episode last night, I laughed my arse off. I love the links with the written jokes on the pad, they are awesome. Nice to see them use Magda more.

It took me ages to work out where I'd seen the librarian before. She was Mr Bean's girlfriend! Also, I've finally discovered who the daughter looks like. She's the 5th Tweenie.

Jack Dee's not bad looking in my opinion.

I *know* I usually have weird taste, but that's the more normal part of me talking.

Very funny first I episode I saw was Library one.

I was always slightly put of coz it was dub "A poor mans Curb" Which is complete rubbish Lead Balloon is a completely different animal very funny. His daughter mumbling and spending the tattoo money was a really funny scene.

I know I keep saying it, but she's brilliant.

A great episode, and I agree that the whole Curb thing must be played out by now; Balloon is very definitely its own animal.
