Frankly, if The Trip is the outcome; no.

Your FACE is off topic!
(I've been waiting to say that to someone for ages.)
I still think it's possible something interesting might happen at the end of the series. If it doesn't I will be slightly disappointed.
Don't know if this has been mentioned, but lots of money would have been saved by having Steve and Rob tour Wimpy restaurants, instead of expensive eateries.
Little Chefs would be better.
If they still exist?
P.S. Do you keep changing the font and colour of your sig, Don? Or are my eyes going funny.

Not really Don. On TV shoots and film and suchlike, the cost of the food in shot isn't really a high proportion of the budget.
Quote: JPM1 @ November 25 2010, 7:04 PM GMTJust to clarify, I didn't say the show was a reckless waste, I said the commissioners had been reckless. I think this because the show appears to lack a level of rigor that I feel a show should have to have in order to warrant spending the public's money on it.
But if people like it, surely it isn't a waste? Also, they weren't trusting the money to just anyone, but to two well known and talented comedy performers, and a critically acclaimed movie director. Whether you find the outcome worth it is your own personal view, but clearly many do.

I change it from time to time. Keeps me entertained.
How impressive are their impressions? I think they are brilliant, some of the best I have ever heard. McGowran and Yarwood must be watching this show through gritted teeth. Even corny old ones like Brucie have been the most accurate I've ever heard, Brydon in particular has amazed me how close he's getting on some; his Ronnie Corbett could be Ronnie Corbett, it is that life like, Tony Hopkins also brilliant.
My favourite yet is James Mason from Coogan; apart from Caine he doesn't seem to do them to death like the more bombastic Brydon and they seem a tad more subtle and artistic to me. Their combined talent is ridiculous though, I bet some hard working impressionists are absolutely sick of the way they are flaunting it about. There is a complete lack of humility about this whole project but you somehow think they've earned that right after hearing their incredibly good impressions. I would like to hear one or two new ones in the last two episodes so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Quote: JPM1 @ November 25 2010, 7:04 PM GMTAlso, I'm not really talking about whether or not it's liked or likable. I think Motorway Cops is likable... I'm trying to get at whether or not it's "well-written" which was the start of this debate.
I'd say something is well-written if the writing works (which is subjective imo). Clearly if you like Motorway Cops but it is not written, then it's not well-written; but is it actually not written? Some of the earlier series of Big Brother worked for me, and I'd say they were well-written, despite the popularly-held opinion that it was just a bunch of people sitting around. To me, it was clearly a carefully crafted show. Well-written. Maybe motorway cops is too (I've not seen it)?
You seriously think BB was written?
Or are you making some point I don't get.
Well edited and manipulated, yes.
Quote: zooo @ November 25 2010, 10:02 PM GMTWell edited and manipulated, yes.
That's what I meant by 'written', yes. Maybe it's just a matter of semantics, but to me, the 'writers' took the raw footage and fabricated it into dramatic story, in a way that elevated it from being just 'edited highlights'.
Well, I think they took story lines that had developed in the house and edited together all the relevant clips, they didn't invent the story itself.
