Sarah Millican Page 2

I'm trying to work out whether that's a positive or negative review...

Bullshit they don't Alfred. How many male comics have you heard tell a dick or wanking joke?

Stoping being such a douchebag.

Sarah Millican especially has a large proportion of male fans, and that is because her humour is universal. Yes, she tells her jokes from the viewpoint of a woman, because she's got a f**king vagina.

This bullshit argument really boils my piss- I'm just thankful there don't seem to be people like you at the gigs I perform at. Because I may have to break my own anti-violent morals.

There is no blanket difference between male and female comics, there are only individual differences. Get yourself to the circuit and see what is going on. Get some education on the subject before making lazy observations.

Well put, Nat.

Now, for the last time, if people want to make (some might say idiotic) blanket statements about female comedians, take it to the female comedians thread (where I can ignore it) DON'T PUT IT IN THE SARAH MILLICAN THREAD.

Thank you kindly. :)

Your piss surely was boiling!

And I will say, I like Sarah Millican doing her stand-up. I like how she shows her facial expressions and I like her material.

Seemingly so! I seem to get angrier every time this comes up now. Maybe it's because the more gigs I do, the more I want to make this my vocation.

I think I like Sarah Millican so much because of her realism. Everything she says sounds so honest and true, it's impossible not to warm to her.

Are you sure it's the bullshit arguments that are having that effect on you, Nat?

It could just be a touch of cystitis.

The above lines, I'm sure you'll agree, could have been written by Sarah Millican herself.

Sarah Millican is one of our most gifted comedians and I fully expect her to rise to ever higher levels of success as time goes by.

It wouldn't surprise me if a TV sitcom were in the offing.

But more than all that I find her a bit ugly, and she is not thin either. ..... teehee hee, snigger, phnar, titter, hrrnngggggffffiffle (run out of comic laughter language, sure there used to be more than that).

You're not doing yourslef any favours there, 'Fred.

No I think I've had that before- it doesn't feel the same Laughing out loud

I watched her One Night Stand recently and have to say I was really impressed. She naturally funny and easy to relate to, loved her story about chatting in the pool, and her reasons for not being a lesbian are brilliant.

I think she's got a great career in front of her and very well deserved.

I'm not a fan. 'Round my way, she wouldn't last 30 seconds at the Pig & Whistle's talent night.

Really?

I've gigged with Sarah and she's worked her way up through the comedy circuit playing tiny little rooms above pubs and having to deal with all sorts of audiences, so I'm sure she'd be more than capable of playing most rooms, especially now she has the added bonus of being "that woman off the telly".

I find it a bit of a wonder how she did get to be so noticed in the first place. It's ridiculous that female members here are instantly rejecting the gender angle, it is plainly obvious the woman has been pointed towards female friendly venues, and her material IS geared towards women more than men, how can people deny this is true just because they get all touchy and defensive about the gender comedy thing, as though it's illegal to even mention it.

There are not as many top female standups out there because women are simply not as universally funny! It may sound harsh but it happens to be a fact borne out by ticket receipts to women standups. Now that many more women are going out to see comedy of course, you have seen a massive rise in ticket sales for female artists, but yes they are overwhelmingly female based audiences. It's all simple marketing really, and while some men will admit to liking the odd woman standup, this is definitely a minority view among men, I'd say. We simply do not laugh ourselves silly over 'jokes' about toilet seats, tampons, shaving or other such womanly stuff. Female comedy is for females, simples.
