Well if it's just to 'enjoy learning' - then don't do it at the taxpayers' expense. If you pay for your enjoyment experience yourself in total - fine - otherwise cough up.

That's very moral of you. I assume you've never claimed any benefits or used the NHS at all?

Nothing at the moment.

Apart from how opinionated and arsey the lot of us can be. ;)

Wonder if there is a course for that? :P

Anthropology?

It's a difficult topic to express on an internet forum.

Fair point.

Let's not meet up and talk about it.

ok..they need sustenance/food/water/shelter etc....err...what do they buy it with? Your simplistic view of 'economic games' has been happening for centuries - handle it. Money makes the world go round - not jobs!

You fall into the trap of one-dimensional thinking. 'Entrepreneur' need not mean someone who makes a shed load of cash. I mean it in the broader sense of being an entrepreneur of your own mind - taking control of your powers and optimising them - not being limited by the conventions of others and systems (i.e. to keep it simple for you - becoming a manual worker because your teacher/parent told youthat's your limit. Taking some of the teaching away from 'teachers' is not a bad idea. All teachers do is help to perpetuate the stupid system that we have now.

Clearer now?

Let me guess... You bought into the study/study/study/work work work/ bit - and it's all looking like its not what it said on the tin now?

If you now apply my thoughts with my, hopefully, clarified explanation you may understand my thinking better. I Don't know how society works? Dont make me laugh - I've spent a lifetime observing and overcoming, succesfully, the s**t it throws up - thanks for the pontification anyway.

Sigh.

Most people do a job in order to earn money. Money can be exchanged for goods and services. Most people want goods or services and therefore want to earn money in order to get them.

I'll declare an interest in this. I'm a teacher at a comprehensive secondary school in a London suburb. And I would welcome our students who wish to become entrepreneurs getting advice or mentorship from people who have been successful in that area.Just as I'd like students who would benefit from getting apprenticeships to be given advice about how they can get them. I think most teachers - and I wnet into the career as a pragmatic choice, not because it was a life-long vocation - want the best for each of the students, whatever that may be. There is no interest in maintaining some imaginary status quo.

Or unless you enjoy learning, obviously.

I like whistling whilst scratching my arse

Will that get funding?

You're not gay are you?

If you're asking, I'm dancing.

*resolves to be deliciously flippant for the remainder of the evening*

We could debate it through the medium of mime?

Yes. Fine Arts Degree, leading to a Turner prize.

That would be preferable. Especially with your eyebrows.

So this has something to do with the NHS?

My point that 'professional students' - you must know the type I mean - the ones who shirk earning a living for years - the ones who do pointless degress to titilate themselves at our expense - need to start to pay for their entertainment.

If I went to the NHS and asked for them to replace my perfectly good heart with another one (asked them to waste money) - then your comparison would hold water

Have I ever claimed benefits ..ever....No!

Have I used the NHS..obviously - but my taxes paid far exceeds what I take from it though, plus I have decided to take private cover because the NHS is a bit of a let down to be honest. As I said previously on this thread, I studied part-time for my degree - whilst working full-time - it cost me £8k 20 years ago at Manchester Business School.

I'll tell you what - that doesn't half focus the mind at lectures!

Silly sausage second degrees aren't funded

They have to earn

They have been described as two brown caterpillars marching off to war.

I think the idea of a forum is to contribute?
