British Comedy Guide

Looking for suggestions

Hello guys!

I'm from Greece and I'm a big fan of English Humor!

Although I'm not living and never have lived in Britain I know a lot about British comedy, but still, could use some help unearthing some pearls...

Alright then, I'll give you some of my favourites to help you out (not all British, but most of them):

TV shows

Monty Python (obviously!)
Mighty Boosh (1st season mostly)
Big Train
The Office (UK version)
Extras
Black Books
The IT Crowd
Father Ted
Flight Of The Conchords

Radio

Mighty Boosh (to me the radio show was the best thing they've done)
Ricky Gervais show
Flight Of The Conchords

Panel (?) shows

QI
anything with Charlie Brooker on it

Stand-up Comedians

Steven Wright
Eddie Izzard
Alan Davies
Dylan Moran
Mitch Hedberg

Alright! That's it! Keep them coming!

Nathan Barley
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
Green Wing

I'm Alan Partridge.

Thanks a lot!

I loved Garth Marenghi!
Green Wing...not really! Not really my tastes...

I'm gonna check Nathan Barley and Alan Partridge...

Keep those suggestions coming!

You've probably seen Spaced?

And I always suggest Outnumbered.
Even though it's not necessarily similar to the ones you've named. Most people like it. :)

Blackadder. Especially series 2-4.

The Peter Serafinowicz Show.

Peep Show.

In terms of radio, I would recommend I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.

Thanks guys! You've given me quite a lot to do!

Of course Black Adder is also one of my favourites (I'm suprised I forgot to mention it)

I'll look into all those, and expect even more suggestions. I suppose in terms of TV there aren't a lot of things I don't already know, but in terms of radio and audiobooks I'm pretty sure you can surprise me!

I'm looking for brainy and surreal stuff and want to avoid easy and vulgar

The radio sitcom Bleak Expectations is very popular at the moment.

The stand-up/sketch show Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle is also very good IMO.

Bottom.
How Not To Live Your Life.

Bottom.

I think that probably comes under the "easy and vulgar" category.

Since when was hitting someone in the balls repeatedly with a frying pan 'easy and vulgar'??
