I've just received an invitation to a work-related cocktail party.
"Dress Code: Smart."
That's a first for me. Any idea what it means? If it involves not wearing jeans I may have a problem.

You would need to wear nice trousers and a shirt at least. Jeans would be a definite no no, else they'd say "smart casual".
Need a date?
Smart casual is usually the point where the jeans can still be worn. Anything fancier and you need trousers.
