Help with an '80s comedian

I hopeful that someone can identify and put a name to a mid-1980s comedian for me. He used to wear a prison suit and after the punch line jump back and say spook and then slide forward and say slither. He was on T.V. quite a bit in 83/84. Hope you can put me out of my missery with this as it's been bugging me for years what his name is.

Any other features spring to mind? Nationality? Accent? Colour? Style of comedy, etc?

I think "spook" and "slither" sound quite distinctive enough; if I don't remember those (and I don't) I doubt any other features will help.

Sounds like Roy Jay. He died in 2007.
