A root beer?
I dunno
It just sounded Western, & I'm looking for a Pianer to hide under.
Are you putting on your spurs as well?
I've got my CV on a web site and received an email today from NYCCO offering me a job.
However looks really dodgy. Not good English and I was wary. I looked the company up and doesn't seem to exist although there was an entry on Ask Yahoo. Looks like someone else queried it too.
Just pointing this out in case anyone else gets an offer and is tempted.
I want to ask you lot for help with some research. Do I put it here or new thread in writers' discussion?
Depends what the question is!

If it's about writing, put it in Writer's Discussion, you'll get more response from other writer's mainly. But if it's general research then here will do.

Wow, Lee! How moderatorish of you!

I might as well post here and move if appropriate. I was asking because I think the post could get missed in general but non-writers might not look at it if I post it in Writers' section.
I am researching for a play I am working on and would like some personal accounts of life in the Yorkshire area from people who were born from 1940 - 1945 and who lived there at least until they were young adults.
I am hoping to get info about life in a village, town and city from people of different backgrounds.
Do any of you know anyone in their early 70's who would be prepared to answer a few questions about their lives from their earliest memory up to the last couple of years?
The questions will be about housing, entertainment, education, religion, holidays, upbringing, employment and so on and they would only be required to answer those they are comfortable with.

Those 3 years of training didn't go to waste!

I don't think many people look at this thread. You can get away with posting it in Writer Discussion too, seeing as this is more of a throw-away thread here.

Hmm, I doubt that you'll get answers to that on this forum; I suspect most of the members would have to ask their GRAND-fathers.
I am in that age bracket, but I'm from South Wales, not Yorkshire. Only a small fraction of people in that age group are familiar with & happy to use the Internet, most are very 'cyber-shy'.
Try looking at forums on Family History sites (http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/), check the magazines that deal with family history. Try searching Google for "silver surfers".
