The Walking Dead

Episode one (Days Gone By) has shown in the US, and was very good, and it's starts here on the FX Channel on Friday 5th November.

This Life's Andrew Lincoln stars as Rick Grimes, a sheriff's deputy in a small Georgia town. Wounded in the line of duty, he is in a coma when the zombie apocalypse occurs. Awakening alone, he sets off in search of his wife, Lori, and young son, Carl, and along the way discovers what has happened to the world.

I'm watching it again at this very moment.

It were tops.

Faithful to the source material in all the right ways. And Lincoln was great in it. Thoroughly looking forward to the next episode being leaked online.

*wonders if she has the FX channel*

We have had this to watch for ages and I am so excited to see it I may burst :D

Hopefully the DVD will be out early in the new year for us Luddites.

What the world really needs now is another zombie drama. If those zombies could also be vampires and werewolves then even better.

What is happening to our culture? It is necrotising. We need dramas that explain our lives and defrost our brains not this infantile, drive-in garbage.

Yeah 'cause we don't already have a billion TV shows about normal people.

Have you watched it? Or read the source material? Or just heard the word Zombie? Plus, what other Zombie TV shows have their been? Not many. The books, at least, are about alot more than people shooting zombies; in fact that's almost the least of what they're about.

Hope Mark Gatiss turns up in a bit part...

I can't think of one. Vampires? F**kloads, but not zombies. Films yes, series, no.

Laughing out loud

I watched this. I think it looks promising. Nice and dark for the most part. Good performances.

I couldn't see much original about it though. Very reminiscent of 28 Days Later and Day of the Triffids, etc.

Perhaps having the protagonist waking up in the aftermath of zombification, wandering around empty streets, meeting Mr Exposition, etc, is the best way to handle this kind of story, but it still felt like well-trodden ground to me.

One thing that bothered me though... was Lincoln supposed to have been unconscious in hospital for over a month? That doesn't seem plausible, but that timeline was suggested by Mr Exposition.

There was Charlie Brooker's 'Dead Set' miniseries.

Only zombie TV I can think of was that one with Davina. Dead Set.

Ahem. *feels redundant*
