I feel sorry for anyone taken out of context - and I'm not sure that Stephen necessarily was - more that he spoke out of turn on an issue men really aren't allowed to talk about freely anymore. However, it's a bit rich of him to go into a hissy fit when he perceives himself as the victim of scorn, as he has over the years been equally guilty of making off-the-cuff spiteful personal comments against others - some of whom have been equally unfairly vilified.
Notably, I've never heard of Stephen ever apologising for any hurtful comments he's made about others, even when it has over-reacted. This is perhaps a sign of an underlying self-centeredness and stubbornness - or being spoilt, as Nanny would say.
He does sound a tad over-sensitive here, I don't see that anyone was really calling him the anti-Christ. Let's hope it's not another case of him suffering a deep depression. I wouldn't like to think that he might do something awful like fleeing the country again, or making us endure another TV series about his depression.
