Tim, I'm not sure it's fair of you to describe ALL writers as soul destroying. Most of the ones that I have been conversing with on these threads seem perfectly nice to me and are not in the slightest bit boring or tedious. Perhaps you are simply not conversing with the right ones.
This happened to me when I was at school. For the first few years of secondary school I managed to get involved with the wrong sort of people. I realised that, for my own wellbeing and personal growth, I needed to distance myself from the bad influences. So I told the teachers that the bad influences been spooning me during assembly and the next day they were promptly removed from the school. I do remember thinking that this was probably a bit of an overreaction on the part of the school and a misunderstanding of what I meant by the word spooning may have contributed. Nevertheless, it did the trick and I went on to study Medicine at University.
