I thought we were discussing the fact that being a writer is a soul destroying job? My point is that many jobs could be described likewise.

Tim, I'm not sure it's fair of you to describe ALL writers as soul destroying. Most of the ones that I have been conversing with on these threads seem perfectly nice to me and are not in the slightest bit boring or tedious. Perhaps you are simply not conversing with the right ones.

This happened to me when I was at school. For the first few years of secondary school I managed to get involved with the wrong sort of people. I realised that, for my own wellbeing and personal growth, I needed to distance myself from the bad influences. So I told the teachers that the bad influences been spooning me during assembly and the next day they were promptly removed from the school. I do remember thinking that this was probably a bit of an overreaction on the part of the school and a misunderstanding of what I meant by the word spooning may have contributed. Nevertheless, it did the trick and I went on to study Medicine at University.

That is EXACTLY the image I was thinking of!

I had it in my head, and Google search made it for me. Delightful.

So to say that you're not a troll is instant proof that you are a troll. I see how that works. Sort of like in Life Of Brian were he's trying to convince his followers that he's not the messiah.

You're a very naughty boy.

Anyway, no proof, so apologies to Not Dave Gorman and let's leave it there!

No apologies necessary. To be fair I was being a bit of a naughty boy with Tim (Sorry Tim), but you did kinda walk into it a bit. Once you get to know me you'll see that I'm not a troll but I am a bit troll like what with the hair and ears.

Ah I knew you weren't a f'real troll, I just thought Tim needed breaking from the cycle. I don't think he quite clicked what was going on.

Just remember, all you aspiring sitcom writers, no-one is interested in reading shows that are too "in". A show that is TV or media-focused is a big turn-off for your reader. Networks are looking for shows which engage with ordinary people leading ordinary lives - with characters that the viewers can closely identify with. They're not looking for shows about television or celebrity, as they keep on telling you...

I think I get it now, they don't want stuff like that because they've already commissioned one. Guess it saves a lot of writing for nothing

I'm not one to prejudge, but... by Christ, that sounds bad. And not particularly BBC Twoy.
