Terrible actors in good films Page 9

Hi :| de :| Hi! Ma'an!

I can certainly see how it would be pretentious to some. :)

Don't patronise me, girlfriend!

Plus, it's directed by Gus Van Sant - who's films are pretty much always terrible. An awful director with barely the first idea about how to shoot a story. Milk is the exception which proves the rule.

The Keanu Reeves School of Acting:

Your wife is dead :|
I have just won the lottery, and am delighted about it. :|
This bomb's about to explode and kill all of the World Leaders :|
What? :|

:D

Keanu Reeves was effectively the prototype for the concept of using entirely CGI'd characters in movies.

Elephant was good too! And To Die For.
And I liked Good Will Hunting, too.

All of those are completely different in style and content, and I think that's pretty rare for a director.

They are all badly-directed, bland tripe. :)

EDIT: Oh, To Die For was pretty good actually...

Forget I said anything. Whistling nnocently

HA.
I win.

Or something of that nature.

Ooh!
I've still not seen A Scanner Darkly. The style looked a bit annoying.

I always assumed it was rotoscoped in an attempt to impart some facial expression to Keanu Reeves.

I will end you all.

:D

I'm with you on 'Good Will Hunting' and 'To Die For'. 'Gerry', although superbly named, was a real pile of old shite though.

I have! And Keanu is dreadful in it. However, the film itself is a right pile of old pretentious toss anyway, so doesn't count as a good film (imo).

Keanu also manages to be awful in the great Dangerous Liasons - doing Bill & Ted opposite the likes of John Malkovich and Glenn Close. Some might say that he was a young actor playing opposite great actors and therefore was bound to look bad. But no, Keanu could do the same scenes opposite Arthur Mullard & Sue Pollard - and still come across as the hopeless, wooden amateur.

And, if it's not already been said, Julian Sands can ruin any film...

I really wanted to like My Own Private Idaho, but I agree, pretentious toss. Any part where Keanu had to recite Shakespeare made me cringe. As we all know from Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare and Keanu really, really don't mix. I can't think of him though without going 'aww' after the Sad Keanu meme. :D

Oh GOD Julian Sands is utter, utter arse. Why is he allowed to exist?

I think I've only seen him in Arachnophobia.

I think I've only seen him in Arachnophobia.

His performance - indeed his mere presence - in Leaving Las Vegas is a crime against humanity.

Oh, I've seen that but I don't remember him.
