Even if it is The Coens, why remake a minor classic? And even the Coens - the most consistently brilliant writer-directors around - have the history to suggest they could screw-up a remake. The Ladykillers, anyone?

Well, they're not remaking the film, as such, as doing a new version of the novel that film was based on, which I think is fair enough.
