That's very good indeed.
I like it.

Oh, dear oh dear!
You've written nearly 12,000 posts on this forum which suggests you read a very large number of works posted by other members.
Was every one of those many many many works funny?
Of course they weren't.
But did you post a message on every one of those not-funny threads saying simply that it wasn't funny and asking if it was supposed to be?
Of course you didn't.
Why not, Matthew?
Why not?

Actually, I very rarely go into critique or leave a message in there, so you're quite lucky. I only read this thread because I saw the title and it intrigued me.
My asking if it was supposed to be funny was a genuine question, I was wondering if the intent was to make people laugh with it or not. If it was, then I think it fails.

And my reply was a genuine reply.
As we might be at this for several days, I'll just nip down the shops and get us some basic essentials... Oh - anyone need their prescriptions picked-up from the chemist whilst I'm down there?

Oh, you're one of those. Okay. Bye. The rest of this thread shall be Stott free.

Surely going past Greggs won't be sufficient, I'll actually have to go in there to buy your cake? Trouble is, I'll probably bump into the proletariat - Paddy McGuinness, John Bishop, Dave Spikey etc...

Nah. I need those specials tablets. For my brain.

Imagine the routine Michael Macintyre could do about Greggs! Probably something about the carboard thing around the soup...
I'm not laughing just thinking about it!

I think the writing is good but feel no need to discuss the subject.
Good writing Ming

That's exactly what I said about Shelley's and Wordsworth's odes to skylarks.
I have no interest in skylarks but it's worth noting that their UK population is now only 10% of what it was 30 years ago.
And that's more than you can say about some other populations, stand-up comedians being one of them.
