It's Friday - annoying puzzle day! Page 49

Yeah, Bertie Prince of Wales became Edward VII

Quote: Steve Sunshine @ October 2 2010, 9:39 PM BST

Yes
Gold or Golden
& Maybe Orange blossom

Is the answer something stupidly arcane or should it be blindingly obvious?

Coasts

Azahar (Orange Blossom), Lumiere, Blanca, Del Sol, D'or (or Gold)

I'll take that as "stupidly arcane".

Edward the VII correct

As is the Spanish Costas

1841: Birth of Albert Edward, first son to Queen Victoria, and the last person to be born first in line to the throne.

But why?

Huh?

Becuase no'one has fulfilled that criteria since I suppose.

Charles was born before the Queens coronation
Which is why he can be ruled out.

>_<

If Gav invites you down the pub, don't go. He's only got 12p in his pocket.

Is it that time again?

12 could be Charon, depending on when you ask.

4. Ayers? (awaits QI-style alarm)

7. This was a contentious question on a radio quiz recently, with the caller answering Ayer's Rock (pronounced Uluru by the natives), but the DJ claimed the biggest rock is the much less sexy-looking Mount Augustus. Then a pedant phoned in to say that by definition a "monolith" should be a quarried stone that has been used in construction/decoration, so neither Ayer's Rock nor Augustus are, strictly speaking, monoliths.
8. Guitar tuning chord sequence.

4. Ayers? (awaits QI-style alarm)

BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP!

4. Is it a parallelogram?

For Ayers, I meant 7, obviously. No Numberwang for me.

2 might be a rubber - it is in whist

8 is on a Guitar

Sorry Kenneth just the string sequence - not chords

9 - Lily The Pink

7. - alright enough already... awards bonus half point.
Ayers Rock was the answer
8.Correct - or it was a guitar thing anyway, Marc P is more correctm now I think of it.

4. Glad you got that wrong, I was the only one in the office that got this one, and I had to really argue for it, as my track record isn't the best.
Although they do leave the Anagrams to me.

We did say Rubber at first but it wasn't right
Lily the Pink is though

Is 3 a diocese?
