The Growing Pains of PC Penrose

This sitcom is out on DVD- I'm thinking of getting it. This was the title of the first series of the sitcom, from then onwards it was called Rosie. Does anyone remember it/ have the DVD of TGPOPP. It is written by Roy Clarke who brilliantly wrote Last of the Summer Wine, First of the Summer Wine, Open all Hours and Keeping up Appearances. If anyone has the DVD what is there opinion of it?

I've got the DVD here somewhere, I think... but only seen two episodes. From what I remember, it is a fairly warm and friendly comedy, slightly above average but not spectacular. i.e. funny, but not quite as good as O.A.O. or K.U.P

I see Last of the Summer Wine is on your favourite sitcoms list so on that basis I'd say you'd definitely like it.

Actually I just spotted it's just £7 on See Amazon product listing and [p=http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3275353/The-Growing-Pains-Of-PC-Penrose-The-Complete-Series/Product.html] so, based on your comedy tastes, I upgrade that to a strong 'worth getting'.

I enjoyed it. Nothing tremendously funny but well written and acted.

I like the early Summer Wine episodes, it's rubbish now

Y'know, really, that should be 'K.U.A.'. :P

And shouldn't that be O.A.H?

I actually didn't spot that one (having not referred to it as that myself previously). Well spotted.

I'm sorry, but are you my English teacher in disguise.

What about a question mark?

I'm currently watching this series- not brilliant, but a good value sitcom. Two questions I want to know answers to?
1) In Episode 2, The Peeper, where the people of Slagcaster are watching a rather large woman strip behind the window, to the tune of 'The Morcombe and Wise' stripping song, is one of the men watching the scriptwriter Roy Clarke, it looks a bit like him

2) Where was this show filmed? It looks a bit like Holmfirth to me where 'Last of the Summer Wine' is set.

I have to say I can remember the theme tune to this, although nothing much else of the programme.

2) Not at all to me. Possible I suppose, but I don't see the similarity.

Have you ever visited the area of Holmfirth Aaron. I live about twenty minutes away from it. A very nice part of the country
