Not only a genuine star of the old Hollywood style but a great performer of comedy too. Hopefully it's an excuse for Some Like it Hot to be on telly again soon.
Tony Curtis RIP
The Defiant Ones is one of my most favourite movies. He was still working too. So sad.
Operation Petticoat is my favourite film that he's in.

And The Bad News Bears Go To Japan.
When I say this thread I thought "But Ian Curtis has been dead for years". They I paid a bit more attention.
I like the one where he's handcuffed to that other bloke and they're on the run from the police.

That black bloke, you mean?
We wouldn't normally mention his skin colour, of course, but it was the whole point of the film so I think we're on fairly safe political ground this time.
It was Sidney Poitier.
That's the fella!
He's managed to still be alive. Poor showing, Tony.
OK, it always happens. Here's a good one from Twitter.
Tony Curtis is going to be cremated - well some like it hot!
R.I.P T.C
Here's the great man in action with Jack Lemmon in 'Some Like It Hot'.
There'll never be another.

His best performance was in That Sweet Smell Of Success playing a shyster press agent, a film about ambitious New Yorkers that suited him to a tee. I thought he was a bit ridiculous in those historical movies he did, because of his quiff and his heavy Brooklyn accent.
No other fans of The Bad News Bears Go To Japan? It's up there with Soccer Dog 2: European Cup.

Potter !
I liked his famous conversation in Spartacus with Larry Olivier.

I had a girlfriend who loved quoting that (restored) line about snails and oysters.
