Richard Bacon's Beer & Pizza Club Page 3

I think the clue that this is not going to be the most groundbreaking comedy show ever is in the channel that it's on.

So have you watched next week's, Nat?

Those people weren't on last night's.

How the hell have I watched a different episode to anyone else? I just pulled it off Virgin On Demand.

Heh! I expect yours was better!

Maybe it was a pilot...?

You didn't see next week's, judging from our guide that has Stephen Mangan.

Maybe it was. Seemingly aired at 11:40pm on the 22nd. And it was only 30 mins. How odd.

The pilot was hosted by Jason Byrne, so unlikely that you saw that. I'm aware that they're being broadcast in a different order to recording though. Wouldn't be beyond reason to assume that Virgin were sent the entire series to digitise, and one lot got re-ordered without the other party being informed.

They do often put the wrong episodes on their catch up service. They're pretty bad for that.

That was friggin' awful. I didn't mind R. Bacon before but found him terribly unlikeable on this. I never, ever want to see this tripe cross my vision again.

!

At the risk of ire, I watched it and found it OK. Richard has an annoying voice ( surely a set back in his radio career, but doesn't seem to be...) He took the joke about his Blue Peter Drug abuse well, although Hound's point and following drug rant seemed to have been cut, possibly he looked to be hogging time, as he was easily the most interesting person on the show. The Lovejoy bloke is just a lad's mag lite face, but he can be entertaining sometimes, the other guy...who was he?! Some dim wit low rent Jack Black (but worse, which I didn't think possible) I was disappointed that it wasn't from Richard B's real house though, and without the audience...

He was a bit of a loudmouth for being someone no-one's heard of!

I know it's just silly showbiz ettiquette, but it feels like he should have kept a low profile, being the nobody, rather than talking over everyone and being a bit of an obnoxious upstart.

He wasn't that bad though. Bless him.

So not many positives here then. One to miss I think.

Is Richard Bacon the bloke who got sacked from Blue Peter?

Taht's him. And some idiot let him back on TV.

Ah, I do apologise I got your name wrong Mr Bacon, but I have corrected it now.

Thanks for pointing it out so politely though Tim Wanker.

Oh dear, I've been zingered! Ouch!

Gawd the annoying bloke was on again! ...Maybe I'm looking for just a show where comedians are just chatting. They ought to put a web cam in the back stage.

Charlie Baker is a lovely guy and a good stand up but this show isn't really doing him any favours (although I'm sure he's picking up a nice fee).

I think the problem is that as the "new boy" in amongst familiar faces he's trying a little bit too hard and coming across as a bit desperate, there also appears to be no "chemistry" between him and Richard Bacon, they just look like two people thrown together rather than laddish best mates (which I'd assumed was kind of the point).

John Richardson and Steven Mangan are always good value though and, overall, as a bit of post-pub fluff it's alright, it provides a few laughs, don't see the point of "scoring" the rounds though? Why not just have them chatting for the sake of it rather than trying to make it into some sort of loose panel game?
