The Inbetweeners - Series 3 Page 19

Well, true. But nevertheless, I did pay pretty good attention I think!

Personally I thought it was great. Best of the series so far.

"Her dad died last month!"
"Well that's awful. Except..."
"What?"
"It's not really relevant is it?"

Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

This. Less silly and cartoony. Just the lads making knobs out of themselves.

I thought it was a middling episode, funny, but not top drawer. Something about the tall girl thing didn't really gel for me, which is probably my main problem with fully enjoying this one. Yes, she was quite tall, but they didn't seem to do enough to make her seem really massive in a funny way, plus she was hardly unattractive. Add to that the fact a teenage boy was seemingly guaranteed to get some action out of her, and, I dunno, just didn't quite come off for me. Though Will dumping her at the party was a very funny Curb-like moment.

Oh, and I thought the seeing a teacher out of school thing was sadly underused, more could have been made of that; it really is very odd seeing teachers out and about in the real world.

I still enjoyed the ep, though.

I could be wrong, but I thought that was kind of the point.
Teenage boys really can be that stupid. A girl can be perfectly pretty, but because she's a bit tall or ten pounds over weight, or anything else that means his friends will tease him, he acts like she's some kind of ugly monster.
I remember seeing it happen!

That's true.

Oh sure, I get the point, but if I'm watching it in a sitcom then I want to laugh more than I'm nodding my head in recognition. No one else seems to have mentioned this though, so it's obviously just my pathetic problem.

I'll agree, best episode so far. Still not perfect though. As people have said, the teacher outside of school was hardly touched, as well as the motorbike at the start. The writing was at the same sloppy level as the rest of this series, but it was a good episode overall.

Sloppy level of writing?
I do like it when amateurs critique successful TV writers... ;)

Actually, what was the point of the motorbike bit? Was it just to set up that it was Neil's birthday? If that's the case, it was entirely unnecesary.

And character stuff for Jay, plus it was funny.

Yeah well I enjoyed it, but it was certainly disposable and didn't add anything to the narrative. It's not like they need to hammer home the fact that Jay lies, do they? Now they did say one thing they learned was that he sees his lies through, and it would have made sense to tie that in through the episode. Just seems a bit of a strange opening. Do they do this often and I just haven't noticed?

I agree, it was a bit throwaway.

Favourite Will line of the episode: "Who has done this to you?!"

I tried watching this last night but couldn't manage more than ten minutes. The performances were Hollyoaks dire and the tone too pee-pee caca for me to be able to enjoy. Maybe if I were 14 I would enjoy it but the only thing that made me smile was the kid driving the bike into a wall, and that was done a hundred times better in Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Shame, as I've heard so many good things about this show and enjoyed the only other episode I saw enough to overlook the horrible acting.

I've never laughed so much in half an hour as I did last night!

I was actually told to be quiet at one point, as I was keeping everyone awake! :O

One of my favourite lines was something along the lines of "I remember going to see King Kong at the Cinema once... now she was with me!" :D

Are they bad actors? I have never noticed. The 'big girl' was terrible, but the rest of them are good.

I did a big laugh at that.
