People were kind of tired of dynasties: a Bush or a Clinton was president or vice president from January of 1981 until January of 2009. That said, Obama's performance has been so poor that even Republicans wish she'd been elected.

November of 2012. There's a big election (local positions, some governors, many seats in Congress) this November in which the Republicans are expected to make huge gains. Some Democrats who are up for reelection have actually asked President Obama not to campaign with them or appear with them.
