Sending your script to Marc Blake Page 2

I sent him a treatment and he was kind enough to look at it and confirm that it worked as a sitcom (rather than a comedy drama as I had feared). He then said £50 for a proper crit of a script. Fair dos. Never did send it to him though. I am going to seek the opinion of my possee on it first.

MC

He gave me some excellent feedback. I gave him a £30 down payment and flashed him my balls, every hour, on the hour for a whole day to make up the rest. While he played with it.

Seriously tho' the service is very positive, thorough and helpful.

I sent him a request via the system on this site. Never heard back. What's up with that?

Dave, he said:

"Strewth, Dave Bussell? Even I can't work miracles!" ;)

Give him another go, it could be invaluable by the look of his feedback! :)

I've just sent a number of scripts for my comedy sereis to Marc. He's a top bloke really approachable and easy to talk to. I'm waiting te feedback now which he's given me and eta on. So far I'm really impressed with the service.

Course he is, you're paying him.

Sounds a worthwhile service if you're intent on getting a good script out there.
Anyone care to print a paragraph or two of their feedback, if they've still got it, to show exactly what he picks up on.

LOL. You cynical person! Next you'll be bringing up the fact that he's never actually written a commissioned sitcom, ever!

You really are a piece of work!

People pay me and I'm rude and obnoxious to them so that theory doesn't always work.

That's it - Sit-Coms at dawn!

Don't go that far, I'm just - as you said - a big fat cynic.

I mean it's like those comedy courses you can do. Some stuff can be taught - format, structure etc. but you can't teach funny, so help with that is out the equation. You're paying for advice on how to structure your work basically - just read script books and other online examples to do that. That's what I do. Just watch lots of comedy - learn from the very best!

I have a couple of questions.

How come theres no mention of this service on his site? I read about in his book but it seems to only be available through this site?

Is it worth sending him a script now? I have a script which sould be all polished and read in a week or so but should I wait until the new year before sending it?

Once it's finished, I'd get in touch with him straight away. He's not necessarily going to be able to look at it immediately so the sooner he's aware of it the better I'd say.

you can't teach funny

Yes, you can. a+b=c and all that.

Oh, no hang on -- I've mixed up 'funny' with 'maths'. You *can* teach maths! That's what I meant...
