British Comedy Guide

Visiting Landan Tan.

Hi peeps.

Just a quickie, the delightful Mrs Marsh and myself are off to London this weekend (seeing Not Going Out on the Friday). We're going to probably take in Camden Market and possibly Carnaby St / Saville Row. Do any of you have any good suggestions for what else to do on a Saturday in London please? Sorry to be so vague as there's probably a million things to do but us country-dwelling carrot-crunchers tend to get lost in the big cities. :$

Thanks awfully in advance,

Your dear friend,

Percival.

Don't go to Oxford Street. Just.. don't.

I broke wind there at the meetup and it may not have dspersed.

Most considerate/

I'd reccomend NewsRevue can't go far wrong with that.

I would suggest going to see a museum... they are massive though and will take up a lot of your day. But they're really great.

Or if you're feeling flash - do the London Eye, Aquarium, Madame Tussauds (you can actually buy tickets online which really reduce the costs for them).

Comedy @ The Boat Show. We went last Friday and had a jolly good time. They're also on a Saturday and Monday.

Oh the aquarium was good, but only because we had 2 for 1 tickets. London Zoo is brilliant- and you should also be able to get 2 for 1 vouvhers on the intywebs.

ALso the Tate Modern was great when I went yesterday. Got extra emotional and stuff.

I've heard Madame Tussauds is awfuuuuul.

Museums all day everyday. Hop on the tube to South Kensington and go to the Natural History museum!

If you want something touristy and shopping based then I'd pick Convent Garden over Oxford Street, still not that great though.

The British Museum is quite fun and then you're only a stones throw away from Tottenham Court Road which can be fun (depending upon your shopping interests.)

Oh this! Go to the Southbank and wander round Tate Modern! Then you can stop by at the new Globe and wander across the Millennium Bridge to St. Pauls. Brilliant day out.

The Thames boat is an aces way of seeing the city.

Also Tate Britannia has an exhibition on Rude Britannia, expensive mind.

But it's partially created by Viz and Harry Hill. Including a big section by Roger Mellie.

Oh and you can get a boat between the 2 Tates but also expensive.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

Unfortunately, we will be on the early evening chuggabug back to Plymouth on the Saturday so we can't make NewsRevue. Liking the idea of the Tate and/or a museum tour (what with being a culture-vulture and all that).

Or, do we go all touristy and go for an open top bus ride wearing novelty police helmets?

Keep 'em coming.

Open tour is aparently a heck of away to see the city.

Plymouth what a way

Or, if you're more organised and have plenty of energy - start at St. Paul's, cross the Millennium bridge to the Tate, wander down past the Globe, the clink and the Golden Hind, across Tower Bridge, Tower of London, back down East Cheap to the Monument.

Once we get back to Plymouth we then need to venture even further South into Cornwall. We're hoping to be quite steaming by then though. A couple of jars in the city during the day (always pop in the Argyll Arms) and then a few on the train, beauuuutiful.

Anyway, thanks again. I've got to get back to work now.

Ta-ra...........

The South Bank on a sunny Saturday is a lovely walk.

If you've got to be heading back southward so relatively early in the evening, I'd suggest that by the time you've done the above (Camden, Saville and/or Carnaby), plus the necessary food breaks, you won't have any time spare.

P.S. The Tate Modern is almost unadulterated shite. Don't even consider wasting your time.

Aaron is a bit diferent to other people.

Didn't you notice that?

I like it but it bloody fills up with schools on cheap ass day trips.
