Black Books Rules! Page 2

I have the complete Black Books on DVD and it is superb. The best one is series 3, episode 1 with Simon Pegg. Oh and by the way: The IT Crowd was superb

I work in a bookshop and believe me, there is stuff in that episode that rings true. There really are people like Simon Pegg's character that exist!
Laughing out loud

I hereby register my love of Black Books.

Even though its only 3 seasons, Ive always thought that short and sweet serves a lot better than drawing a show out until its wrung out every last laugh it can get. If you are looking for something in the Black Books vain though, I recommend buying or downloading a copy of Dylan Morans stand up show "Monster." Its absolutely hysterical in all the ways that black books is. In fact, the only difference between dylan and bernard that I could really make out, is that dylan is just a nicer guy and wont hit you with a broom if you ask him to order a book in for you.

I agree. They stopped when it was still at the top, rather than wearing it thin.

Black Books always has a place in my heart.

I love 'Monster' too. I've watched the DVD hundreds of times and it's still funny.

has anyone seen he latest stand up DVD? If so, is it any good?

BERNARD: 'YOUR CHILD HAS THE COLD DEAD EYES OF A KILLER.'

Possibly my favourite line from the series.

Can you buy the series 3 dvd on its own yet?
I know for a while I couldn't find it anywhere except as part of a 3 series boxset, which I don't flipping need.

I bought series 3 on it's own because I already had the limited collection of 1 & 2...

You can still get it on Select Cheaper and Amazon.

I don't want to encourage negative comments, but could Black Books be the Force that binds the members of BSG together?

I also love it, and for me the real charm (and I don't mean that in a patronising way, just the way that it does actually charm me) is the fact it doesn't try to be too slick or smarmy. I think the script and production hark-back to traditional sitcoms but still have room for contemporary references, which is all good.

FYI Black Books S1 E1 and E2 are currently free to download via 4oD

(Of course if you happened to look on YouTube you might be able to watch the other episodes for free too *cough*)

two episodes are on Paramount Comedy 2 tonight I think...at about 9:30 if youre interested?

yes it is a good laugh, i havent watched all of it and some of it lacks but in most parts it's tip top.

I just got my tickets for Dylan Moran and Ardal O'hanlon at the melbourne international comedy festival in April. Can't wait...

He looks like a horse in a man suit!
