Sorry Dave it just seemed like someone who isn't a writer or creator giving his opinion on something he is a fan of. Not sure about geek, but buff type stuff. Best of luck mind.

That's where I've been going wrong.
From now on everything will be fully-arsed.
I do appreciate the fact I'm no expert at writing or creating sitcoms, which is why the rules are more general occurences that appear in many comedy series' out there. It wouldn't appeal to as many people if I were to delve into the intricacies of character creation, whereas many people can, and have, been able to access and relate to the things I've mentioned.
However, I do hope you enjoyed reading it anyway.
Also Lazzard, that particular rule was aimed at the channel executives rather than any budding, yet unpublished sitcom creators. I wonder if you actually read it????
I'm not sure what you are looking for here Dave. EIther it's pitched at creators or viewers. I would suggest you target appropriately.

To be fair Dave, both your post and the article it's self say 'writing' sitcoms.
I think maybe you're looking into it a bit too seriously. I meant it as a light hearted praise/jibe at some of the sitcoms out there. If I've said anything about writing it's just at a very superficial level, purely for entertainment. The placing of the article in this forum, and not the sitcom one, is honestly nothing to do with me. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, just make people laugh and think about sitcom writing - nothing to take massively seriously! Honest
