British Comedy Guide

My first time

Hello, this is my first time on here and it is good to see that there are like-minded people out there.

I was just wondering, does anyone else think that there aren't as many good comedy shows at the moment? I know that there are a few; The Inbetweeners, Outnumbered and Benidorm etc, but what about creating legacies? Shows that people will watch over and over, broadcasters will repeat over and over and audiences will love over and over. Good writing, good acting and good broadcast time.

Can you really see yourself watching My Hero, Not Going Out, Him & Her next year, let alone 5, 10, 20 years time?

I think, as the audience, we get treated like idiots who'll lap up any old tripe as long as they keep showing us the uninteresting trailers/teaser for long enough prior to airing. Come on 'the powers that be', let's start thinking back 'inside the Box', please.

Phew!! I needed that, and breathe. Whistling nnocently

I think you may be looking through rose-tinted glasses. Whilst there have been a lot of classics produced over the years, and years ago, at the same time there was an equal amount of rubbish stuff on too. A lot of the crap never gets repeated (thank God) so it fades for our memories.

Fair point, I just needed to let off some steam. I think. :S

I don't blame you and this is the perfect place to do it. Go nuts. Tell me how bad My Hero is. Go on, slap me, kick me in the nuts. I'm a bad boy!! Tell me I'm a bitch!!!

Ahem.

:$

Sorry.

Haha! Classic.

My Hero? How the hell did that get commissioned? (Rhetorical)

Wasn't My Hero a decade ago? There have been plenty of good shows on the box since then. Perhaps they're just not to your taste.

No Heroics now.

:)

Sorry, had to dash off quickly.

Yes, it was a while back and no it wasn't to my taste correct. But that does not mean I am wrong nor does it mean that we accept canned laughter being over used on unfunny lines. My Hero was merely an example, off the top of my head! Huh?

No one uses canned laughter anymore!

Are you 100% about that? ;)

99%. Isn't is common knowledge that they're not used any more? They do enhance post-prod and may sometimes use the sound out of an alternate take, but I'm pretty sure canned laughter stopped a long time ago. Someone tell me if I'm being an idiot.

You're being an idiot. But for the point you're making, I'm sure you're correct.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad :( :) Teary :S

Shall I call you cab? Smarmy
