Ok, so I was the other guy involved in the making of this video and to be honest these comments aren't even constructive. To my mind there's a lot more to a parody than exactly copying the style of the show, and the incredibly lo-fi way in which this was filmed is all part of its charm. If anyone has any constructive criticism of the actual material and why it's such a bad parody then fair enough. Otherwise I'm beginning to believe that we are unwanted intruders to some kind of comedy snob clique. If you're offended by that I'm sorry, but I think I reserve the right to be honest in the circumstances!

I honestly think you've got it wrong; this is a surprisingly friendly bunch on here. I'm a comedy spastic, and I haven't been chased off yet!

I haven't watched the video, but to me it seems that posters are critiquing the whole package, and seeing as the comments are mainly about the setup and style of the video it's safe to say that it's an issue. The way you set and film a piece should go a long way to supporting the context- and if you're parodying a show genre, you should go as close to the real thing as possible.

I'll have at doing a non-writer's critique if I can get my laptop to play the video. But really, the critiques on here are always honest if not bang on.

Not constructive? You mean the way we've taken time out of our day to identify things that are wrong with your video and offer suggestions as to how you might improve?

Look, if you just want people to tell you how great your work is go to friends, go to family - don't post in critique where you're going to hear the truth. You've been given honest feedback. Suck it up.

Oh for Pete's sake is it you again?

You're videos are awful (albiet your beards still rule)

1 Write some scripts
2 Edit scripts
3 Read scripts as a group and make notes
4 Reedit scripts
5 Plan shoot buy props, choose locations etc
6 Rehearse and direct
7 Film scripts

This can take as little as one day and will get you a decent product.

Till then please stop wasting my time.

Unless you're Russ Abbott and you're not/

We hate you, we just fear you.

Whoa, whoa, whoa - it's a 'coven', not a 'clique'.

PS - Boomerang, are you and attaxwronges, frat bros?

Is it my manic Northern eyes? Or the fact I can see you picking your nose through the sight I've got trained on your face?

It's the YouTube video of you putting a wheelie bin into an old woman.

And you know I don't have a nose.

You're hurtful

Alright, picking your facial stump. Either way, pack it in, it's grossing me out.

Ok, if you're being brutally honest than so will I be. Your comments seem to be of the persuasion that comedy is governed by a set of rules that no one is ever allowed to stray from. Personally I don't believe it's as black and white as that. I realise that many of the people who post on this forum appear to have a slightly different take on comedy and sense of humour to myself and attaxwrongness but really was there absolutely nothing about this video that any of you thought worked in the slightest, or would work for the right audience?

And SootyJ in the nicest possible way, who do you think you are???

Oh dear.

And no, I don't just want people to say how great our work is but don't want people with arched eyebrows who think they're better than everyone else to just slap it down without thinking how anything in it might work. I sucked up your criticism and spat it out. Suck it up.

Honestly, this discussion has took place many, many times on here before. It never ends well. Can we just agree to disagree.

Soots, you've gave your crit, no need to reply to this thread now.

The makers of this video. Take any criticism off here with a pinch of salt. No one is trying to be personal, they are just offering their opinion and time for free. Take it for what it's worth. If you're offering it up for review, and especially on the internet. You'll have to expect all sorts of abuse - good and bad.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooots! Angry

I didn't laugh once. I couldn't care less about "rules" but that's a failing for me in terms of comedy. Maybe I'm the "wrong audience", I don't know, but you made your sketch available for critique and got a personal opinion.

Stop asking people to tell you what's good about your work and consider why people are only talking about what's bad. If you're able to put aside perceived prejudice and listen to what people are saying you might come away with some ways to improve your future output.
