i didnt say I don't like an entire nations comedy outputthat's just ridiculous curb your enthusiasm, seinfeld, tim and eric awesome show and arrested development are among my favourite shows ever in comedy, I particularly meant two and a half men and stuff of its ilk that I don't care for.
I may not have done the best job setting the video up. What we are doing in this video is representing what we see something like two and a half men as but in a possibly more exaggerated way.
Its meant to be absurd and ridiculous and shows how we feel about sitcoms that have repetitive lines and idiotic stereotypes.
See now, that's not what you said before your edit. I appreciate you might have accidentally worded it in a misleading way the first time around though.
To my mind, if you're going to send up a particular show you need to make some effort to mimic its look and feel. Two and a Half Men is a slick looking audience sitcom. Your sketch is a couple of Brits shooting in a flat on what looks like a webcam. The two just aren't relatable in any way so the spoof is rendered redundant.
There's a great little sketch with Bob Mortimer and Reece Shearsmith (among others) sending up Seinfeld. I'd link to it on YouTube but the site seems to be down right now. Search it out if you like.
It's also worth noting that "canned laughter" isn't really a technique that's used anymore. Some of the laughter might be punched up in post but the guffaws come from a live audience who are likely fans of the show and have been primed to laugh by a warm up comedian. And most sitcoms feature stereotypes, including the ones you've named as liking. The characters might be better written with better jokes but they're still stereotypes.
