Just lie Ben, say your surname is Big and you do the bongs on the news.

No, Big Ben doesn't write its own material, it gets Simon Anstell to do it...

Imagine getting rejected by a radio rejects show! Nooooooooooooooooooooo!

Ha! That would be a kick in the undercrackers.

Re-write....

Anybody with the brass balls to claim they have been on the radio should submit new sketches to us in the next four weeks.

Don't worry about telling us a few fibs because we don't even know what 'commissioned' means.

Or, we do know what 'commissioned' means but we assume you don't know what 'copyright' means so it's win-win all round when we flog the best stuff (with a few re-writes) to C4.

Right, what I can't do is get a hang of this forum thing! Just to straighten things out, we have no intention of stealing other people's work, rewriting it and flogging it. This is meant to be an opportunity for radio writers to give their work a second airing. We are experienced comedy sketch show producers, professional actors and radio writers ourselves. Although I originally asked for commissioned writers, I have since heard from very polite writers who have had sketches on the radio asking me if it is okay to send some of their sketches- it is. We are planning this as a monthly show so we will need a lot of material. We will of course be inviting BBC radio producers. It's a fun and friendly event and we'd like to keep it that way. The first show is scheduled for 6 October at 8PM at the Albany, Great Portland Street. Hope you can make it.

I got the impression Big Ben wrote Simon Anstell's material

Is the Albany the one right up near the tube station? With the poky little room downstairs where the comedy is?

That depends. Is the tube station Great Portland Street?

That is the pub I was thinking of. I just checked on Google Street View.

The Albany is indeed on Great Portland Street across the street from the tube. It is a poky little space downstairs but pretty nice compared to all the poky little comedy clubs we've performed at! Just a reminder the first Radio Rejects will be on next Wednesday, 6 October at 8PM. It will then be the first Wednesday of every month.

Thank you so much for all the submissions. We've got some really good material for the shows. I'll email you directly when your stuff is on. We're still making up the running order for next week so you won't hear from me yet! I'm really pleased that there are so many talented writers out there and I think Radio Rejects is a great way of building up a community of radio writers. Thanks again!

Good luck with it Lydia. I meant to ask earlier, is it performed script-in-hand radio-style or is there scope for visual or staged stuff as well?

It is performed script in hand but half the fun is the visual stuff that does go on with actors!

I've chucked a couple RFTP-almosts in your direction Lydia. Hopefully you have better taste than Morrish et al ;)

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Huh?

(that's me on the end).

Haha

Good amendment.

Anyone would think we were a bunch of jealous, carping, egotists

Bastards I've been writing the Bongs for 2 years and squeaky little Amstel gets my credits.

Did anyone hear back yet?
