PhoneShop - Series 1

Well as it's having its own series I thought it should have its own thread.

Just walked past - the door was open as it's quite warm and there's a hand-written sign in the window saying "This is not a real shop. Please do not enter."

They've got a cardboard cutout of a bouncer in a smart suit holding a sign saying "Welcome". Sums up phone shop staff perfectly I thought.

Anyway I'll try to get in the shots for the outside scenes (!!!) and will be interesting to see when it's finally screened.

Seems they've completed the filming. They were stripping the inside of the shop today. I lurked to see if there was anything interesting but I think I was too late.

Yes, filming was completed last Friday.

Does everyone know Ricky Gervais is the script editor of it too?

High hopes

Yes, everyone knows. Doesn't make it any less a massive pile of shite though.

A little harsh after one pilot.

No, quite forgiving really.

But perhaps the series will be a drastic overhaul from the lowly standard set in 2009. And pigs might fly.

I enjoyed the pilot & looking forward to the series

:D

I found the "Jafrican" (?... I think it's called?... oops that may be an offensive term, I really don't know) hard to listen to, but the shop dynamic interesting...though not all that funny but I'd say it showed promise.

I've never heard that term before. So I can't say if it's offensive.

...It's not looking too promising though, let's be honest. :D

OK - I only really brought this up because it was filmed on my patch and I wasn't that impressed by the pilot. You have to trust them though.

Maybe though it will have time to develop.

Such is the previously barren cultural landscape of Sutton, Surrey, which I'm sure will now be known to future generations as "Phone Shop Country".

PhoneShop will be joining the already-packed Thursday night schedules. 10:00pm on E4 from the 7th of October. See our guide for more info.

I didn't see the pilot, so will look out for this. Have been wanting to see this, mainly intrigued by RG's involvment. Apparently they had him script edit because they feared the main character was too much like David Brent.

The pilot was very poor. I'd be surprised if Ricky G. has done that much work on it.
