Now the UK Film Council is being disbanded by the coalition no-one voted for, does anyone know what other possibilities there are for receiving funding for a new feature?

I'm sure some of KFC's food is tasty, but is it worth defenestrating yourself?
Rich parents. I think that is the general gist of government policy. If you want funding, have rich parents, if you don't have rich parents then you need to get on your bike and start your own business and get rich off the back of other peoples labour, have kids, and then fund your kids film projects.

Not that I know of. I'd concentrate on private funding and getting a prod co behind you if I were you.
The fundings's still there - it just won't come through the UKFC.
They were quite expensive to run - with some execs earning more in a year than a writer could earn in ten.
And a lot of writers were critical of their commissioning policy and the fact that they funded a series of flops with their insatiable thirst for the off-beat and politically-correct.
This is what Julian fellowes had to say (yes I know he's a Tory, but he is a writer, too!)
you can get lottery funding
