I guess I must mix with the right crowd then

It amazes me that you don't seem to be able to go one thread without making an off-colour comment like this yet you're perplexed as to why professionals are rejecting your 'cross-cultural' scripts.

As ever Bussell strikes that nail bang on the head

I think it was more of a class thing than a racist thing. Innit being frightfully common after all.

True but I wasn't making a statement about bushbaby being racist, simply suggesting that it might be faux pas like the above that give people the impression she might be. And that's no way to get a commission.

Micheal, seeing as you're here and stuff and that - what's the deal with the CBeebies workshop? The words invite only scare me somewhat. Could doing well in All Mixed Up propel me into a workshop place, or is it a separate entity where you already have a few names and faces in mind?

I put it to you M'Lud :)

Fair play.

Sorry if the CBeebies thing is unclear. It's a completely separate venture to the competition, it's something I've been planning with the channel, and between us we are coming up with an invitation list of writers. It's a combination of college experience in running workshops at the service of a particular project, rather than a free-for-all application process.

Cool. That explains everything.

I've never had any previous dealings with CBeebies, so no anxious inbox checking for me - I'll just get on with writing something for All Mixed Up instead.

Being a complete arse, after reading Bussells post earlier I almost put:

*Waits for Marc P to leap to Bushbabys defence astride his white charger*

And sure enough-!

:D ;)

Just explaining what I think she meant - and I bet I am right ;)

I think you may have a thing for her, Marc; a sexy thing.

:)

I think some of you are taking it a bit too literally.

I think the contest is just looking for a script that presents a multi-cultural image of London which, to be fair, is what London is - very multi-culture.

Don't think it's racist or trying to be politically correct or anything like that.

I don't think it has to be set in London.
