Take that, Liverpool!

Spurs make it to the Group stages. Well done them. I think Crouchy will be great for them in Europe. I think Spurs fans will really see the best of him in the Champions League.

Crouch should be England's first choice striker. You can't knock strike goal rate for his country.

He's quality, I don't know why he gets so much criticism. I do think United should have gone for him instead of Michael Owen, who I really don't rate at all. My mate who has terrible footballing ideas loves Owen yet thinks Crouch is crap. He also said Nigel De Jong shouldn't have been sent off in the World Cup final, the only person I've spoken to who is of that opinion.

How many people on here are old enough to remember the last time Blackpool were in the top flight?

I remember.

Blackpool were beating Chelsea 3-0 at half time and then Chelsea went on to win 4-3.

And Giggs has scored in every Premier League season!

Is that so difficult for someone who is basically a forward?

Quote: Ben @ August 16 2010, 9:52 PM BST

United - allegedly - always start the season poorly, so this is good!

I seem to remember them winning the first 4 games of the 06/07 season though, so maybe it's just a recent phenomena.

So what happened against Fulham! Laughing out loud Laughing out loud Laughing out loud

Scholes was fantastic, shame he won't be able to play every game.

Having to rely on someone past his best?

Quote: Ben @ August 22 2010, 5:47 PM BST

Bollocks.

Yes - well done Manchester City.

Scholes or Gerrard - who is better?

Who would you rather have in your team?

Paul Scholes all day long. For me the greatest player to have graced the Premiership. Gerrard had a poor season last year, can anyone recall Scholesey having a bad season. His passing ability is still the best in the league. He doesn't score as much as he used to, yet in his prime he constantly scored screamers and let's not forget Gerrard plays more often in attacking positions. The only downside to Scholes is his poor tackling, yet he is far more disciplined than Gerrard off the pitch, you don't see Scholes beating DJ's up in nightclubs do you? Scholes is the ultimate professional. Don't think I could say that about Gerrard.

In fact, I think Frank Lampard is superior to Gerrard.
At the minute for clubs:
1. Lampard
2. Scholes
3. Gerrard

Overall for clubs
1. Scholes
2. Lampard
3. Gerrard.

Overall For England
1. Gerrard
2. Scholes
3. Lampard

What do people think about the possibility of Arteta playing for England?

What do people think about the possibility of Arteta playing for England?

It's wrong in moral value. I think you've got to at least have an English parent to play for England, but every countries at it- look at Germany with the best Polish talent on their team in Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski. The rules do need changing, but I think Arteta's a great player and though I do want the rules to change, whilst he is eligable to play for England, I'd have no hesistation in putting him in my starting XI.

Didn't Alfredo Di Stefano play for Argentina, Spain and Columbia?

COYS!

And yeah, play Arteta for England.

Id take it a step further and say lets be able to buy people from other countries. What the hell?

Its going to happen one day - so why not now?

Scholes? Gerrard?

Scholes definitely - Scholes, unlike Gerrard, doesn't (alledgedly)have sex with 16 year old girls and take out court injunctions against national newspapers who want to report it.
Scholes has a strict 18 yr old + policy - and quite right too.

Admittedly Gerrard's slightly better than Bryan Robson - but then again Robson is 53 now

Who said anything about their behaviour off the field...or Lampard for that matter. Strikes me that by changing the emphasis of the question it means you don't seriously believe that Scholes is better and have to resort to dodgy tactics. ;)

You'll be telling me Scholes has superior ginger hair compared to Gerrard next!

I don't think he should have been sent off either. Neither BBC nor ITV commentary teams thought there was anything in it until they saw a slo-mo replay from one particular angle, and we never saw it from another angle again after that. Yes it looked bad but I think de Jong was going for the ball with a high foot and there was no intent. Unlike Gazza in the 2001 cup final.

He does!

1991.

Yes, it really was that long ago. :(

Quote: Badge @ August 26 2010, 8:48 PM BST

That was my point - it doesn't mean he's a better player! :D

Take that Liverpool!

A place in the group stages I mean.
