Thanks, I feel a lot better now :)

How did your first gig go ?

It went well, but it was a friendly crowd.
I only did it 3 or 4 times years ago.

Oh and speak slower than you think, or take your time.
as nerves will speed you up a bit

And let us know how you get on.
:D

Who doesn't.

I'm fighting off a mild panic attack. Just sunk in that my first open spot is only 9 days away and I've just cut a minute from my set because I can't make it work. I have to make up another minute, edit it and then memorise and practice. I'm very very very nervous.

Just have fun. Have a good strong intro joke and about 5 backup gags in reserve.

And it takes ages to get good.

Why didn't you stick with it ?

Ooh backup gags ? Eep, I hadn't even thought about that !

Firstly - I know, but I've been losing weight slowly for a long time and need a kick start to get over a hump. Secondly - I am still not happy with the way I look, so want to do it for myself. :)

Nobody's happy with how they look. Although chunky women are a bit of a turn off so go for it! :)

Write 'em down exactly how you like them. Maybe stick them in a newspaper and pretend you're pulling stories from the news.

Early standup gigs are an education. You will be surprised by what people laugh at.

And the more familiar a joke is to the audience the more they'll like it.

Not a feeder then are we Chip? It won't surprise you to find I'm a little surprised.

I just wanted to do it to show I could I suppose.
I never really wanted to pursue it.
I still fancy trying it again one day for a laugh though.
:)

Steve has an alternative set of stage skills.

But standup is a huge amount of work and you have to love it.

Getting the gigs and having to stay all evenings for a mere 5minutes wares you down.

Oh god, I've eaten too many sweets. Sick

You are going to be great!!!! :)

Ellie is trying to get up enough courage to book herself on a month of bootcamp. 7am starts (with a 7 mile cycle to get there before hand).

You are gorgeous how you are, Ellie! I know what it's like to not be happy with how you look, but know that I'm pretty sure most of us think you're beautiful, if not all.

See. In your face JP. That'll learn ya.

I found a photo of myself on Paste magazine's coverage of last weekend's festival. My bald head makes me easy to spot in crowds. Teary

:D Nice one, DaBaldy.

Is that a sweat patch between your shoulder blades?

No, it's printing on the T-shirt. It was overcast and rather pleasant, unlike the 100F I'm faced with at the moment.
