Me prank calling - what do you think?

Won't let me post links so copy and paste:

Please tell me what you think.

Phone pranking has been done quite a lot so it needs to be different in some way to stand out or be anything more than a couple of students dicking about (we've all done it!)

I'm afraid that, for me, phoning a film rental place and asking for porn isn't weird or unexpected enough to be particularly funny and calling the bloke an arsehole for not having porn isn't going to get you very far.

You need something more structured and clever. I thought you might be onto something with the "I'm phoning from a car" bit, which could have played out quite amusingly but you'd already blown it by being abusive so he hung up when you need to keep him on the phone to get the laughs.

And you should probably invest in one of those things which lets you record the other half of the phone conversation.

I remember years ago, I downloaded a free program that allowed to record both sides of a phonecall through a PC - something to do with the dial up modem, I think. Only worked with a landline obviously, but I'm sure some clever dick could hook a mobile up easily enough.

Anyway, I remember ringing up national railway enquiries to enquire how much it would cost for my pet monkey to travel on the train. Unfortunately, I was unable to keep a straight face/voice, so it sounded a bit rubbish. The man on the other end was laughing like an ape.

When I think of prank calls I always think of a guy he did them at school. He rang one woman up and said, "Excuse me, have you seen my horse?" and she replied, "Sorry no - we live in a cul-de-sac you see. There is a field behind us so it might have run in there." "Could you go and look please", and do you what? She did!

The more sinister side was when he called a random house and told a child that there was a rabid dog on the loose and that her and her mum should go and lie down in an upstairs room as "shots might be fired."

Yep, otherwise swearing at a video shop person seems a bit unfunny. Maybe better to wait for marketing/survey/nuisance callers to phone you and wind them up.

Prank calls are the lowest form of comedy, so I haven't listened to yours. If I had, I could only tell you where you stood in the bottom 1%. If you can do comedy, do something that doesn't exploit innocent people going about their daily lives, please.

This is the best YouTube prank call I've seen

... it doesn't really kick until the middle though
