I was convinced the world would get blown up in a nuclear war when I was little. Also that I would get stuck in quick sand, fall down a well, and get eaten by a massive Venus Fly Trap.
In a fun way, though. 
I miss that old nuclear war anxiety. It was weirdly reassuring.
