Quote: Will Cam @ August 16 2010, 11:26 PM BSTWill Cam's daughter is getting married on Saturday and his wife has been nagging him to write his speech down. I have scribbled a few notes down with a view to winging it on the day, which is my preferred style. I think trying to write funny speeches down longhand makes them flat. I think I will write down more than I normally would as I have never bombed before and my only daughter's wedding might not be the best time to start!
I think you're right to improvise.
In fact, why not junk the convention of actually speaking, and instead convey your message using the medium of interpretive dance? Make sure to wear a leotard.

I shall take your advice on board Nogget.
Chip's cat's at the vet today having a bad tooth removed.
Awww. Poor kitty.
One of your teeth Chip?

No.
Quote: James Cotter @ August 16 2010, 12:45 PM BSTYeah I know about that. I still haven't thought of one. I think I'll go for something like James H Cotter although not James E Cotter as people might think I was the character out of Rab C Nesbit.
How about:
Harry Cotter (bit close to Harry Potter though)
James Cottier
James Fitz-Cotter
Elwin Cotter
What is your middle name anyway.
Looks like Ed Cotter is taken
Quote: john lucas 101 @ August 16 2010, 1:04 PM BSTThat's a nice picture of Rik, James. Are you felling particularly Rik-ish at the moment?
I bought Rik a half of beer once, not realising who he was until I came back with the beer in hand.
He was sitting with Laurence Marks in the bar at the studio In Borehamwood & I had to see Laurence about summat technical. So I had offered a beer to Laurence & whosoever was with him to be polite.

Awwww! That will cost you like 1 mill.
You would have been better off removing it yourself.
Next time tie some string around it. Hold it tight & let a mouse run around the house.

Quote: James Cotter @ August 16 2010, 1:19 PM BSTI know I wish he was back on the box more regularly. He needs another sitcom written for him. Where are Marks and Gran when you need them?
I saw M&G yesterday. They seem to be going more for stage productions than telly at the moment.
As you know they did a play for Rik of "The New Statesman" which ran for two seasons.
Their musical: Dreamboats and Petticoats is still running, with one cast in the West End and another cast on tour. .
A play called: Von Ribbentrop's Watch is in rehearsals right now and will be showing real soon now.

Quote: Aaron @ August 16 2010, 1:32 PM BSTBOAF resurgence rumours have picked up in the past few years, but there's no evidence that they're true.
I didn't ask M&G about that.

Pauline Quirke said in an interview just a couple of weeks ago that she would be willing, but has never been approached.
Getting ready to check out of my Boston hotel room and begin my journey home. I checked in at 2 a.m. and the room they gave me was already occupied, so I wound up with a large suite. It has everything: boardroom table, whirlpool tub, leaky ceiling ...
Ben has a quiet night ahead and is rather looking forward to it.
Chip's cats being kept in over night. He doesn't like the sound of that.
Maybe they just want to play with him?
