But it dropped off straight away and averaged around the same as the current series.

Hey, just a small observation and I have pointed this out elsewhere, but to few answers, is where has the character of Scott disappeared to?
I thought he was gunna be some new character like Alfie and Abi had been over the years, but after the second episode, there has been no sight nor mention of him. I know they changed the episodes around a bit, but the one last Friday where Ben and Michael went out clubbing together, Michael appeared to be moving on with his life as though nothing had happened. Is he a new character fulltime or what?
Anyone else care to venture an opinion?
I think that fans just read his name in details leaked from the couple of recordings he was mentioned in, and ran with it, assuming he'd be a regular.
More interesting is why Roger is still in the title sequence and yet has still to appear.

I reckon he's been travelling or something. Pity the boat didn't sink.
It's a weird world when you think that The Life of Riley was getting better ratings

He's not even been mentioned though - quite strange.

And a good job too in my honest opinion.

Maybe they fell out and they pretend it doesn't exist.
Oh I mean he instead of it. Ah well it still works for me.

Poor old Last of the Summer Wine has dropped to 4.06 million

The point I'm trying to make is that if the BBC had advertised it would have got 6m or so and I think more would have stayed with it (5m+) as the episodes are a lot stronger this series.
I totally agree that the adverts for it have been rather sparse but those figures are respectable for a series going out in an August slot.

No offence to anyone, but all this ratings talk is really boring. Shouldn't we be discussing the actual episodes and the quality (or lack of) therein?
Ratings are only estimates. They can't know how many people actually watch it unless they bug everyone's TV set.
That's it, it's all a load of bollocks. It may be on in a household of say five people- how do they know how many of the five people watched it? What if it's just on with nobody watching it and what about people who watch part of it or are just channel hopping.
Oh well I'm sorry to offend everyone, I'll just f**k off now then.

If the household has 5 people then everytime someone enters the room the householders input how many people are present each time someone leaves or enters.
I don't like the way the ratings are managed. I've always imagined that 50 million people could be watching a show, but because only a few of the BARB panel are watching it the ratings are 2 million. Not likely but not impossible.
Also channel hoppers don't count. The ratings are split into , I think, 10 minute slots and it counts how many viewers are watching at the next count, so if someone watches a show for 15 minutes then they will be counted for that 15 minute period.
Then to get the rating, they work out th average viewership across the whole show.
