Environmental Discussion.

TV STUDIO INTERVIEW

SIMON:
Welcome to Talk Turkey, I'm Simon Turkey and this week in the studio we have Jerome Probert enviromental expert. Good to have you here Jerome.

JEROME:
A Pleasure to be here Simon.

SIMON:
These days everybody is talking about climate change and the Irreversible damage we're inflicting on our planet. What sort of steps should all of us be taking to prevent this?

JEROME:
I find the best thing we can try to do in order to prevent people talking about Environmental issues is to change the subject. But this isn't as easy as it sounds and I'm not entirely convinced that it will be successful in the long term.

SIMON:
Indeed. In your recent report you say that talking about the Environment will only get worse unless we try to do something about it now.

JEROME:
I don't think that people have quite grasped how bad things could get. At the moment climate change is one of many topics for discussion. But we predict that in less than 20 years environmental damage could account for over 99% of all Dinner party conversations. And by then there won't be much anyone will be able to do about this.

SIMON:
It's a terrifying thought.

JEROME:
And this isn't just about our dinner parties, but our children's dinner parties & their children's dinner parties. We owe it to them to do something about this before it's too late.

SIMON:
What exactly can we do as individuals? How best can we avoid the subject?

JEROME:
One person avoiding the subject isn't going to make that much difference I'm afraid. We need everybody to not only stop talking about it, but be ready to stop other people talking about it wherever possible. We really need to work together on this one.

SIMON:
I know this may seem a little bit of a crazy idea, but what would happen if we actually tried to reverse climate change? If we could reverse the actual damage to the planet, then perhaps people wouldn't talk about it too much.

JEROME:
I'm afraid it's far too late for that.

SIMON:
Really?

JEROME:
I'd rather not talk about it if you don't mind.

SIMON:
That's probably for the best.

TO CAMERA

Well that's it from this weeks episode of Talk Turkey, next week the show will be called Happy talk & I'll be changing my surname accordingly.

END

Absolutely terrific, but not sure where the final line is coming from.

No I just added that now, it goes with the intro.
The show is called Talk Turkey so I had a vision of the presenter changing his name to make a good show title.
It wasn't really part of the sketch in the first place. Nor was the Talk Turkey
so it's getridable

The interviewers name was originally down as Miles for some reason.
Whistling nnocently

I think you are on safe ground that the sketch will still be topical when NJ returns.

It's already a NewsJack reject.
I thought I'd give it an airing though as I liked it.

I would say that this has a thick edge on just about every sketch that did make cut with Newsjack; you woz robbed.

:D :D :D :D great stuff

Goody gumdrops :D

I thought this was good, Steve, but could do with a couple of extra gags in there. Jerome in particular delivers a lot of lines which are crying out for some sort of zinger.

Great concept, and I really liked the last line. It's off-kilter and leaves it open for another sketch - and we'd all like to land ourselves a runner. I agree with Timbo that you were really unlucky not to get this onto Newsjack.
