This is the view of the lake. It's not too fancy. I think the multiple decks and skylights make it a little showy.

It was built in 1892 and has had many changes made to the exterior over the years. But the inside is very lofty with hardwood floors. Lots of space, kids each get their own room, 3 bathrooms, on a decent size lot. I love it!

This place is listed for $149,900, which I think is a hell of a deal. Places across the road sell for at least double that.

If that was in England I would guess the price range to be around $800,000 - $1.5m depending where it was in the country.

And the rest, if it were in the south like you say. The difference between the US and us is they've got space still, we haven't, hence the silly prices we have over here, which incidently are still utterly ludicrous and designed only to make estate agents rich.
