Meat.......or beet? Page 16

The problem here is Ells, you haven't done any research have you? You've just cut out meat (cold turkey) Pleased I'm not sure about the kind of meals you eat or how often you cook for yourself. But can I suggest you eat the same thing you'd normally eat and replace that sausage or piece of fish with beans, beef mushrooms or some ready-made veggie Linda McCartney sausage thing.

Beans are so f**king good for you and very versatile. Just mush em up and mold them into whatever shape you need, whilst adding the appropriate herbs and spices of course.

BBC's website has a surprisingly large amount of vegetarian recipes. I use them quite a lot, and just adapt them slightly for tha vegan.

He's right, you know.

I never really cook at home... I just have salads with cooked meat. What can I have instead of the cooked meat?

Also, I don't plan meals.

A big blob of mashed potato.

Best to change your whole attitude, and stop seeing meals as 'meat with so and so'. Instead, you should be eating just 'so and so', but it should have beans, lentils, tofu, chick peas, cheese or somesuch in it.

Start cooking ;) Honestly, you may learn a lot about what food is good for you and what you think is good for you isn't really having any benefits at all or not many anyway. (if that makes sense)

Do you have any ideas about what food will improve your exercise routines? I don't really, but just look at direct.gov or something for tips. I bet they'll suggest carbs and protein. So like I said before, beans are probably the right direction. There's like a million varieties, there's also grains and nuts too. Off the top of my head, I'd suggest mixing into the salad some chickpeas and/or mixed salad nuts and for a somewhat meat replacement, grill/roast a beefsteak mushroom marinaded in whatever you like (we usse garlic and balsamic vinegar a lot). You could try making or buying falafels. Or making a beany cous cous/Quinoa (which is like a grain).

Um, that's just off the top of my head. Do some research :P

Our vegetable shopping bill comes to about £20/30 a week, so it's not that expensive.

If we have a roast dinner, my veggie wife just has everything else with out the meat. You can make a really nice carbonara using veggie bacon and Quorn chicken pieces.

It's hard when you're cooking for one though. Lot of time and effort to produce a meal for one. My boyfriend is a big meat head eater.

Cousocus takes less then 5 mins. You can just leave it in boiling water, throw in a stock cube and some herbs and spices and your done (or if you buy the packet ones it's even less time).

What meat do you have with the salad? It seems like you're doing 2 meals anyway, because I can't imagine your BF is just happy with salad and a slice of meat.

This.

It's true that it becomes much easier to cook anything when it's not just for one. It would be handy if you could change your bloke's eating habits. Or maybe just change your bloke.

Well if it is hard to cook for one. Cook for two - makes two lots worth and eat on different days.

I don't cook for him, just me. I'm rarely in anyway. It was just bad timing I didn't have anything in last night and missed dinner.

you could always use this useful equation:

2 x Veggie Woman = Lesbians

"Do not stand in the way of a man and his meat, lest thy shall be eaten."

That's in the actual Bible.

That's in the actual Bible.

So it's literally in the biblical sense?
