NewsRevue again! Page 59

Cheers Mikey. I live too far to see the show but...... maybe one day.

Back before I had to do a proper job and stuff I used to have quite a good score.

So my advice is.

1 Crude not clever, the audience is pissed and want a laugh.
2 Short 1=2 pages.
3 Songs are great fun but the competition is very tough.
4 Lots of gags, a bunch of good puns beat a clever concept.
5 Have fun.
6 No taste barrier Maddy, Diana, Fritzell even I've been blown away by their fearlesness.
7 Swear.

Yeah, back in the day, it was the SootyjRevue.

week 2...

Blinking flip I've got one in at last and didn't even notice first week. And it's a song. :)

Well Done Michael & Badge

I can't actually remember your name, Badge, so I don't know which one is yours on the list, but well done none the less. You going to creep down there and watch it?

Cheers both. Ben, mine is "I Got You Dave". If I'm going to see it it'll have to be this weekend (hoping they won't have ditched it by then).

Well done. How did you submit it? Did you just say to the tune of 'such and such'? Or is it an original tune?

The latest run that I've posted here in THIS comng weekend's show.
So they won't ditch it. (at least, not this week)

Yes it's a "to the tune of". Having sat in the audience before I think one of the things that makes the better songs go down well is the recognition factor. I might be wrong but I don't think they tend to use original tunes, partly because of recognition and partly I suspect because it's harder for the cast to learn new tunes rather than ones they already know.

They're always parodies of well known songs.

Examples include Our House It Won't Sell (I Know Him So Well) and Hopelessly I Voted For You. (Hopelessly Devoted To You)

Got one in, hoorah!

I saw that. Well done.

I just sent them a quickie. I was going to post it here in "I read the news" but thought I'd send it to them first.

This might sound stupid but do they have two different shows going with different casts at the moment? One at Canal Theatre and one in Edinburgh?

And one set of sketches? Is that how it works?

No 2 sets of sketches.
