That Mitchell And Webb Look - Series 4 Page 19

Terrible mix-up tonight.

Some old episode of 'The Fast Show' kept popping up on the screen.

I liked the KKK sketch. And the minister killing the poor.

I liked the Sketches We Couldn't Afford To Film.

Although it went on too long, I quite enjoyed the Slightly Drunk sketch. And, as zooo said, the Poor Killing one was funny. Rest was a bit feeble.

KKK was good and I liked the last sketch. The rest was a tad pony.

Liked the computer modelling ('kill all the poor') sketch, but it seemed to drain off toward the end with no particular punchline. Similarly the KKK costumes, an interesting idea that started off well, a couple of little laughs, but then turned out to be just the writer showing off their liberal "aren't right-wingers all nasty" credentials. Pathetic. Lost track of most of the second half, will have to watch back later. Disappointed, but not surprised after previous episodes. *sigh*

I wonder if the sketch format has just been tired out in the past few years. There have just been too many of these kinds of shows written by the same few dozen people and performed by an ensemble of even fewer.

I'd disagree with you, Aaron. The last series of Harry and Paul along with Armstrong and Miller got me laughing away. I don't think the format's tired, but there's just a lot of very poor shows out there. Going deeper, was there ever really a golden age of sketch shows?

I thought it was the best if the series; KKK, small office, kill the poor, and almost two drinks were all pretty good; report mode was just weird.

And thankfully they have got the message and relegated Hennimore to the red button.

I forgot the small office stuff. Did raise a smile but didn't seem as funny as when we first saw it a couple of weeks ago.

I thought that was a vast improvement. Small office sketch was still funny, killing the poor- "pump gas into Lidl" made me laugh. Quite liked the celebrity chef in a balloon one as well.

Not sure why they brought back the pint and a prayer thing and have no idea what the report mode one was all about though. Anyway, I enjoyed it, and that's the main thing.

A return to form, the kill all the poor sketch was a cracker:

"I didn't realise that it's only cold hearted pragmatism that's keeping you from pumping gas into Lidl." That's Sunshineesque Laughing out loud

Why do they think alcohol is so funny?

Some good stuff but also some real duffers. And frankly doing a German version of an old Fast show sketch, you'd be slated f you wrote that in critique. And at times it feels like they're just ramming stuff home. Yes being slightly drunk is nice.

I did like the kill the poor sketch.

I almost like the way they deconstruct sketches, comment on them, and have pre-sketch sketches, like with the southern accents bit. Almost like; I get the feeling they could be hilarious, but sadly don't quite make it. So I'm awarding points for effort.

The KKK one would have been very funny without the intro and the added punchline.

If they couldn't do the accents they should have gone some one who could.

Rolling eyes

You've got quite a chip on your shoulder about liberals, haven't you? Despite the fact that virtually every show you've ever loved was written by and starred liberals.
