/ comedy (STV production - maybe paid)

Writers's Brief
/comedy is an innovative approach to the development of comedy in this multi platform new media world. Sketches will be uploaded to STV's new comedy website and the very best of these will then go on to form the core of a one hour television special.
We are looking for short, fast paced sketches requiring minimal props/makeup that can be filmed in everyday locations. Strong, returning characters are welcome, as are series of sketches around a specific location. This is a great chance to gain global online exposure through STV's dedicated comedy site.
All sketches used online will be fully credited and a writer's page will allow for links to homepages, websites or social networking sites. As a shop window for your writing talent this is a tremendous opportunity to have your work professionally performed, filmed, edited and broadcast online, with the best sketches going on to the television special

Please send scripts ideally by 31st August 2010

as the bottom drawers of every comedy writer in the land get emailed to Scotland.

I have no bottom draw material, it's all pure gold, Griff.

ALL my comedy is in the bottow drawer. The top drawer has socks and pants in it.

But I hear your bottoms a draw!

It's tight, it's shapely, it's smooth; it's a rear to be proud of.

Or so Mother tells me.

I just have the one drawer. All my comedy is pants.

How do you pronounce the name of this show? Is it 'slash comedy' or 'stroke comedy'?

Sounds good. I'll be sending something from my draws.

Sounds like a ripe opportunity. I shall send some writings in and prepare for more rejection. YAY!

I got the impression that this was just for Scottish writers and/or people based in Scotland. I might be wrong, but there were one or two things they said that made my mind up for me.

"There is a wealth of comedy talent in Scotland and we hope this exciting multimedia production for stv.tv and STV will bring out the very best our country has to offer. Whether you're an established writer or just fancy a go at writing new, funny, smart sketch comedy, we want to hear from you."

Glasgow-based producer Incorporated Media will make all the web and TV content. It will be produced by Comedy Store founder Kim Kinnie, who previously produced STV output including comedy and entertainment.
This week, STV called for new talent and established writers across Scotland to join Incorporated's writing team, which will be headed by David Cosgrove. Incorporated will assemble a professional cast to perform the material, which will be uploaded to stv.tv and STV's YouTube channel for six weeks from late September.

However, if you are up in Edinburgh at the moment, there's absolutely nothing to stop you from sending stuff.

Take your point about the confusion, except for this part of David's invitation...

That's the actual page with the complete info. Sounds like its open to anyone.

I'm considering sending something in for this, but have only submitted to radio shows in the past and I've just realised I don't know how to format a TV sketch script (I'm assuming they want it to look like a TV script as it's for a TV company).

Does anyone know whether any of the Scriptsmart templates are suitable? There is nothing that specifically says it's for a TV sketch.

Or does anyone have a link to a sample TV sketch script online?

Look on the BBC writersrom site, I believe there are several different format exaples on there.
