Goodnight Sweetheart - let's try to bring it back Page 2

I can't seen any reasonable argument for bringing this back.

It was pretty good, Griff. Worth a watch. At least, it was in the mid 90s. The last couple of series were a bit below par though.

I never watched this as I just assumed it would be terrible, but some of the comments on here and other threads are making me consider checking out the repeats on ITV3.

Well, I thought it was good when I used to watch it, but I was about thirteen at the time.

I love this show. I have all 6 series on DVD and I am currently re-watching it. I can have this show on on the loop - it's a good, friendly, sci-fi comedy. If it was brought back I would like to see a special.

I watched earlier series and liked it.
But I think I was out getting drunk too much when the last few series' were on.

I think I might have missed a series in between too as I saw one episode of series whatever where Gary had a baby in both the past and the future, whereas the last time I had seen it, he was childless.

How did it end... um... in the end?

He only ever had 1 child in the 1940s called Michael, though he did 'meet' him as a 50 year old in the present day.

It ended when Gary saved Clement Attlee's life and the time portal closed (saving his life was the reason he was sent back). He had no choice than to stay in the past.

Noooooo please don't bring it back. My husband barely moves from the couch as it is.

Is that his excuse?

I thought the series actually finished - that is it had a satisfactory resolution.

I spoke to Laurence today and he said that he and Maurice are writing a musical of "Goodnight Sweetheart".

That doesn't necessarily mean it will get produced of course, but it is likely.

It will be stage show, of course, not on TV.

We're re-watching it at the moment. Up to About Series 4. I think it is very good. It is sort of a cross between a drama, sitcom and scifi. It was a simple idea, yet a cracker of one. A better idea than they probably imagined it to be at the start. Yep, I like the show. I'm not a great fan of bringing stuff back or 'reunion specials'. I think the final Vicar of Dibley special was awful and if I bought the DVDs I'd be tempted to snap the final DVD in half and throw it away. I'm not that keen on Goodnight Sweetheart that I'd want to see a sequel. However, if it was good I might change my mind. It would have to be good though. I'd rather see Grange Hill brought back.

Cooooooooooooool!

I'd like to see 'Hi-de-Hi!' become a musical. And it could have pantomime elements and would be great as theatre restaurant too. It could be great. Love Hi-de-Hi!.

They're doing it.

Isn't about time you stopped living in the past?

And buried him.

Just watched the final episode, I've been watching them prolifically back to back over the last few days. I think it had an extremely satisfying conclusion, it should be laid to rest and not brought back. Only Fools haunts me still, had a great conclusion in 1996, yet they made the mistake in bringing it back.

I saw the Protect and Sruvive episode of Only Fools. A sweet slice of 80s in every way.
